Do you call max speed as avg speed?

I think Best would have to be the fastest bowler in the world at the moment. It's not just that he can reach 150. It's that he hit 150+ more times during his spell than any other bowler playing international cricket atm. Yes Ishant, Yadav, Aaron, Pattinson, Roach, etc. have bowled spells in the high 140s but I think Best is slightly quicker on average than most of those guys even during their quickest spells. Also, watching him bowl live, he just looks quicker. Speed guns, from what I understand, measure the ball out of the hand. By the time the ball reaches the batsman it loses a fair amount of pace due to friction both against the ground and in the air. This is why you have the concept of a "quicker" wicket (i.e. one that doesn't grip as much). So when I see the way best is hurrying even experienced international batsmen like Watson & Clarke, I dare say he's the quickest in the world (not by a lot but still the quickest) at the moment.

Best might be the quickest bowler, but to claim he hurries even tailenders is a bit of a stretch. He is pure, unadulterated crap in general irrespective of the speed he bowls at.
