Jaddu is doing nothing special anyway. He was just darting best part of the first test. Replace him with Irfan Pathan as a seamer.
Jaddu was not doing anything? Ask Australians according to whom he was the toughest bowler to score of and that was the kind of bowling needed on that track.

bowled very well imo they showed a pitch map n he bowled only ONE delivery that batsman let go out of 30 overs.they had to play all others n he still had very good ER. bowled accurate and fast, turning the occasional one.even though hes a SLA,hes different than Ojha, who is slower and gets more turn consistently.so both can play imo

He did bowl well, need to see more of him. How does he bowl in the next match? Because he was bowling mostly same quicker pace. He needs to mix slower flighted deliveries in between to deceive the batsmen like Panser and Ajmal do. That is the only thing I hope he does in the next match, otherwise he was the most accurate bowler. Aussie lefties had real hard time against him.

Average is more important than strike rates. Averages always include the strike rates' date=' strike rates do not include the average. Strike rates do not tell you whether a bowler is economical or not, averages factor in both economy and strike rates.[/quote'] IMO in ODI strike rate = avg in importance in Tests strike rate > average

why? so some one is taking 5 wickets for 80 runs but bowling 30 overs how is he worst then some one taking 5 wickets for 100 runs but bowling 25 overs? yeah u get more overs but u also get less runs if average is less also in this case ashwin's average was going up while ojha's was not ..or atleast not at same rate :giggle:

Ashwin oscillates between two ends. He can be magical or quiet mediocre. But a test batting average of 42 always puts him ahead of any other spinner. So it is going to be between Ojha vs other spinners.

True. But we cannot categorically one is better than other. I would say Ojha will do well against certain teams and Ashwin will do well against certain teams. Both were complementing each other well. Then came Jaddu and Bhajji both upset the balance completely. Just replace Bhajji with Ojha. Jaddu is doing nothing special anyway. He was just darting best part of the first test. Replace him with Irfan Pathan as a seamer.
There are a few reasons why Ojha hasnt been picked . They want to go with 5 bowlers ( 3+2 ) , but not at the risk of weakening the batting . Jadeja is picked a 5th bowler and no7 bat. Ashwin ( offspinner ) + no8 who can bat . the toss up is between Harby and Ojha . Harbajan was picked for 2 reasons . Ozs Cant play offspinners & that Harbajan can bat .

he said the same ..u can find player with brilliant strike rate but with bad average it can be other way around..
Brilliant strike rate, Bad average is going to be rare. He has to be enoromously expensive to achieve that. Say if someone has a strike rate of 42 (a wicket every 7 overs) and an average of 45. If he has taken 2 wickets he will have bowled 14 overs and conceded 90 runs. For an average of 40 - 80 runs, for an average of 30 - 60 runs in 14 overs. On the other hand you could find scores of bowlers with decent average but poor strike rate simply because they could bowl more maidens. Also a bowler with good strike rate is invariably good at picking wickets in a clutch meaning he can be a game changer compared to a bowler who is merely having a good average.

I have seen mediocre side of Ojha as well. Neither of them are going to be good against all teams. Against certain teams i would back Ojha. Against certain teams i would back Ashwin. There is no clear winner. Also Ashwin has lot more variations. All he needs to do is mix up judiciously. On the other hand Ojha's arm ball needs a lot of work to do. Murali karthik has better arm ball. Ojha's strength is being steady something Ashwin can achieve by shunning his frequent attempt at variations. Ojha has a nice trajectory. But he has to up his speed like Panesar. Batsmen can play him off the backfoot.
