carnish Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu: A group of fishermen from Tamil Nadu were on Tuesday allegedly attacked by Sri Lankan naval men while they were fishing near Katchatheevu, fisheries department officials said. The fishermen from this coastal area had ventured for fishing in 20 boats, officials said, adding, the Lankan naval men allegedly attacked them with ropes and steel pipes causing extensive damage to their fishing nets and communication equipment. The officials, quoting a boat-owner, said they reportedly even stuffed sugar in the engine of one of the mechanized boats and paralysed it. The fishermen alleged the naval personnel also seized the catch and warned that they would open fire next time if they were seen near Katchatheevu, an islet in the Palk Straits ceded to Sri Lanka by India in 1974. http://www.ndtv.com/article/south/sri-lankan-navy-attacks-tamil-nadu-fishermen-335576?pfrom=home-health
carnish Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 This is real poor on behalf of the Indian Govt. They should have a severe take on this and warn the Lankans for a possible nuclear attack :--D
maniac Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Seriously now Lungans are a security threat  and :hysterical: moment at the same time.
Sean Bradley Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I can sense a typical 'Paki' mentality coming to haunt us in this forum :headshake:, let a lone muslim get affected in the most deserted marshland of hawaiian island, and pakis will make a moutain of a mole :protest:.
JaFanatic Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 its been the case for a while now spineless government
The Dark Horse Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 an islet in the Palk Straits ceded to Sri Lanka by India in 1974. I'm not surprised many people don't even know about these killings.
Ram Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 We should let one of these do a fly-by past those Lankan naval boats and see how much firing there is after that -
ShanS Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 We should let one of these do a fly-by past those Lankan naval boats and see how much firing there is after that - +1. On a serious note, it's strange that there are no AFB with SU-30 MKI in Southern part. Although, plans are afoot to base a squadron at Thanjavur.
Desi Cartman Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 They got pwned by police desi style. I don't see any attack but yes they got harassed. Needs some people from Delhi to make some calls.
Junyfan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 all the best to lanka brothers,on a serious note these things happen quite a lot, nothing new
Muloghonto Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Y do they cross the border in the first place? because the Indo-SL maritime border runs through rich fishing grounds of Palk strait and SW bay of Bengal, its quite easy for fishermen to cross the borders. Its not like their boats are running GPS.
Clarke Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 +1. On a serious note, it's strange that there are no AFB with SU-30 MKI in Southern part. Although, plans are afoot to base a squadron at Thanjavur. Our navy has an air arm that's going to grow in the future.
Swing_n_Speed Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 because the Indo-SL maritime border runs through rich fishing grounds of Palk strait and SW bay of Bengal' date=' its quite easy for fishermen to cross the borders. Its not like their boats are running GPS.[/quote'] They might as well install GPS systems on those boats. Then again do our fishermen have rights to fish in those waters? That said the the SL navy could be a bit more humane. Absolutely no need to trash the fishermen. Seriously a little island trying too intimidate us. Dumbas*es!
SLICKR392 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 :hysterical::hysterical: Attacked, literally killed. How sick are you being hysterical about something like this? Some balls these guys have got to attack our people on our land. A Chennai local police station might be enough to deal with these clowns and here they are...

Er, asking a Tamil fisherman, who sails/rows his catamaran out to the sea and casts a net, to install GPS in their boats is like asking the rickshaw puller to put airconditioning in his cab. Utterly unrealistic.
NareshK Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Indian politicians are just there to maintain their status quo. They dont give a damn about people living in India and doing anything that may put their positions remotely in jeopardy. Its just the money, power and positions they are interested in. Bunch of spineless feckers. America basically destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq just to make sure nobody fecks with their country against in future. India cant even deal with these retarded nations like Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
