saneindian Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Remember reading an article sometime back where Raina said Kirsten wanted him to open and that he wouldn't mind opening the innings in tests for India. Did open in a FC match as well to boost his FC stats. Hope DHoni is not having any such thoughts and give Rahane his debut
GautiMaan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 It would be pathetic if Raina plays ahead of Rahane, but i do think that some icfers are hyping Rahane way too much

SLICKR392 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 It would be pathetic if Raina plays ahead of Rahane' date='but i do think that some icfers are hyping Rahane way too much[/quote'] He will play ahead of Rahane. Dhoni will make sure of that. He will get a ton and make his way to SA. :bye:
The Dark Horse Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 So the general consensus is that it is CSK lobby is to blame. Lets get this right, Murali vijay - Most runs in the series Dhoni - 2nd most runs in this series Ashwin - Most wicket in this series Jadeja - 2nd most wickets in the series and this includes both India and Australia. So the top 4 performers for India are all from CSK. I am guessing even gambhir jaundice is now blamed on CSK. Its a pretty horrible decision to pick raina, but so were playing sehwag and bhajji in the 1st 2 tests and playing ishant for the entire series. None of them have anything to do with CSK. How do you explain that? They just blame it on CSK, they did it when Srikanth was there, doing it now after he has gone
Yoda-esque Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 OTOH, It is indeed disappointing if Rahane has requested selectors to solely consider himself for the middle order slot. If one is desperate and wants something bad, one should make things happen. Why not take a crack at the opening position ?

GautiMaan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 He will play ahead of Rahane. Dhoni will make sure of that. He will get a ton and make his way to SA. :bye: Will lose interest in the match if that happens.
I6MTW Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 He will play ahead of Rahane. Dhoni will make sure of that. He will get a ton and make his way to SA. :bye: He will not score a ton.
harmuk Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Considering the fact that players like Sehwag(till last test), Harbhajan and Sachin continue to figure in the Test XI, this to me is not as baffling a selection given he was the second or third string choice, though I would never select him in a Test squad as of now. How Harbhajan is even allowed close to a Test team, is one of the biggest travesties of Indian cricket.
Jersey #10 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Only few here want him to back in test XI including me... But still so many hates him... :headshake: All the best Raina :two_thumbs_up: cardinals fan?
Texan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Positives: Dhoni's chamcha Negatives: Can't play swinging ball Can't play short pitched balls Can't play good length balls outside off.... This list is endless man..... this guy is a total waste in Tests! Good for ODIs and T20s only! What the hell is wrong with the selectors?????!!!!!!! I had some hopes from this selection panel, but now I have none
Texan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 He will play ahead of Rahane. Dhoni will make sure of that. He will get a ton and make his way to SA. :bye: Why does he even need to make a ton? He only needs to score a 50 in one innings and he'll play the next 2 tours.
harmuk Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Positives: What the hell is wrong with the selectors?????!!!!!!! I had some hopes from this selection panel, but now I have noneThe moment they selected Sehwag, there goes your hopes. It cannot get any worse. I mean who in the right mind would select She-wag after the twin displays on the English and Aussie tours. Then they bring Tendulkar chamcha Harbhajan back, in a select Tendulkar get Harbhajan for free deal. So....

moniker Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Raina is probably in as a back up middle order bat, the position that Rahane has filled so far in the series. Rahane would now open. At least that's what I hope. Wishful thinking?
