Suyal would have been a very good choice.

Bowling selections not good, Pankaj, Kaul, Suyal should be in both team, Umadkat, and other trundlers not good enough, Pandey, Kaul, Shami have potential not sure about Mohit. Batting wise selections are pretty good, feel sorry for Saha as he deserves a place and is very talented.

this committee is doing a damn fine job i'd say..... very happy to see pujara and rasool in the odi squad....almost all these guys are youngsters who have some potential and need chances at the highest level... The funniest thing is that ishant has been rested lol They can't really pick 10 seamers like everyone is suggesting.... the ones in the squads are good enough and need to be tried out... Mohit, Shami, Natkhat are all young bowlers who have done well in domestic competitions this season so let's see how they go. Veenie is a different story... he is probably picked for his experience to provide 'leadership' Sid kaul is in the A tour party for SAF... so no point complaining about his exclusion

Good selection as far as batsmen and spinners are concerned. I especially like the fact that Pujara has been selected. Getting practice on the bouncy Zimbabwe wickets will be really beneficial before the SAF tour. Rayudu and Rasool are good selections too. Would have liked Yuvi though. I am disappointed with the selection of pacers though. ( Should have been 5 pacers ) Shami and Mohit are good choices. Resting Umesh, Bhuvi and Ishant ( prefer dropping him ) is nice too. But I don't like Unadkat and Vinay's selection. I would have preferred Kaul , Dhawal and atleast one 140 k + pacer. Suyal would have been ideal. His domestic record is quite good too. Unadkat's selection is very strange.

not played much cricket!!! :omg: are u sure?? played 16 ipl matches, 6 matches in CT(including practice match), and 3 already in tri series... and that to after a major back injury...this is just too much IMO As far as learning is concerned i think what he need is a county stint and not bowling on lifeless tracks of zimbawe

The national selectors have named rookie pacer Mohit Sharma in the team along with his state team captain Amit Mishra for India's ODI tour of Zimbabwe later this month. Just two domestic seasons old, Mohit grabbed eyeballs turning out for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this year. The 24-year-old was long way off a berth even in his state team two and half years ago. Having played out his years at the under-19 and under-22 levels for Haryana, Mohit then played for Indian Airlines. "Although I was focused on the camp at NCA from July 7, I wouldn't deny that I was expecting a call from the national selectors. I feel more mature after playing two seasons of first-class cricket and handling the pressure in the IPL," Mohit told TOI, adding that the conditions at Haryana's isolated home ground in Lahli, near Rohtak, have helped him harness his skills. "Lahli means everything to me. I have learnt my cricket there and the conditions there only inspired me to bowl quick," he said. "To be honest, he was an ordinary bowler when the 2010-11 season ended. He was nowhere near being considered for Haryana. But in the off-season camp prior to the 2011-12 season, he came out as a different person altogether. He was working very hard on his fitness and became much sharper with the ball. That's when the selectors thought he should be given a chance in the team," Haryana coach Ashwini Kumar, who has seen the boy from his age-group playing days in Faridabad, told TOI on Friday. Kumar said that Mohit was a little edgy after failing to bag an IPL contract after his first good season. "But this boy has a wise head. He was very good in his academics and has always been a happy person. He sings well and is a character in the team which is confined to the stadium in Lahli right through the Ranji season," he said. After missing most of the 2011-12 first-class season, Mohit persevered hard and the last season was the defining one for him. A tally of 37 wickets in eight matches at an average of 23.24 bagged him a deal with IPL giants Chennai Super Kings. His performance in IPL made the selectors notice him. It is at CSK where both Mohit and Ashwini believe the bowler learnt to bowl intelligently. "Mohit is a genuinely quick bowler who can crank it up to near 140km/hr consistently. And he doesn't want to cut down on his pace. But he understood his captain and the team management's strategy on benign tracks during the IPL. He didn't provide the batsmen with the right pace and relied on his accuracy. He has come back from CSK and has been working hard on the fitness regime that his physio and trainers there taught him. This has given him a huge lift," Ashwini remarked

Virat Kohli (capt.),Shikhar Dhawan,Rohit Sharma,Dinesh Karthik,Cheteshwar Pujara, Suresh Raina,Ambati Rayudu,Ajinkya Rahane,Ravindra Jadeja,Amit Mishra,Parvez Rasool,Shami Ahmed,R Vinay Kumar,Jaydev Unadkat,Mohit Sharma. Apart from the selection of Unadkat I agree with the selectors.Vijay is rightly dropped & Rahane comes in. All 4 of our 1st choice bowlers are also rested so we can try some fringe players to build up the bench strength.Rasool,Shami & Mohit are all good picks.Vinay has been in the squad for a while so he also gets a go.Rayudu replaces injured Dhoni who can keep & a good middle order batsman.We could've tried 1 of Suyal or Sid Kaul in place of Unadkat.

im absolutely loving how cash-meeris on twitter are calling rasool's selection a POLITICAL move. its funny how they go to the extent of stigmatizing the achievements of one of their own, simply because it doesn't suit their bullshit agenda and contradicts their generally ****ed up point of view.

This is the second time I am reading about Mohit Sharma being called a genuine fast bowler. First it was the CSK owner at the time of his purchase and now it is his coach Aswini Kumar. We have all seen pacers being wrongly hyped up as far as pace is concerned like Mithun, Warrier and even VRV Singh. But there is a chance that Mohit is a fast medium bowler and not gentle medium like he led us to believe in the IPL. Whenever he hit the deck hard , he was actually getting good purchase from the pitch even though he never touched 140 k in the IPL.
