StatsRock Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Oh......May be it was 200 wickets in ODI....I vaguely remember watching it live...and pretty sure that was Sharjah Okay. In the link I presented, his 147th wicket that made him #1 came at Sharjah against WI.
CoverDrive Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 What is your earliest cricketing memory? That means the earliest matches you recall seeing on TV. Mine was the 1985 B&H world championship. Fell in love with the colored clothing and awesome coverage.
Scarves Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 The 1996 World Cup Semi final with people burning things and Kambli crying.
Sooda Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 96 WC here too, it was when I started watching cricket properly. Can picture Kambli running off in tears but also happier memories like SRTs tons vs Kenya, good knock vs Aus in the group matches, Jayasuriya, Mark Waugh who became my favourite player...
philcric Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Earliest (hazy) memories - 1985 B&H World Championship in Australia. Vivid Memories - 1987 World Cup (Sidhu's sixes, C Sharma's hat trick, Azhar's terrific catch off his own bowling against Australia .. yes he used to bowl medium pace back then).
philcric Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Found the clipping of Azhar's catch on YouTube. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhww7Xj0u3A]Azharuddin Bowling and taking great catch - YouTube[/ame]
Khalpat Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 1990: India's tour to England and the brilliant century by Azharudin, I guess it was the same match in which Sachin hit his debut century. The 171 odd by Azhar in the first inning till date remains the best century I have seen.
kruiser Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 b&h series in 1985.. getting up in the morning at 3:30..
rahulrulezz Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Saley tuchiye! U forgot Wc2011 n countless times we raped ur country
singhprakash72 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 1981 Eng series. The match at Mumbai.. Same here...especially the last innings when Kapil & Madan Lal bowled in tandem to skittle out English batsman cheaply.
Soorma_Bhopali Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Earliest Hazy memories : India vs. Pakistan test series played in Pakistan in 1983-1984 with Zaheer Abbas Batting. Also , India vs. WI Series in 1983 on B&W Telly with Sunil Gavaskar hitting 236 not out in Madras... Fikrst impression in my young mind was that this WI team was near invincible and contest seemed to be so unequal with Indian Batsman in serious danger of injury ..It was unbelievable to see Sunil Gavaskar take on these bowlers with just a floppy hat and no protective gear Vivid Memories : 1984 India vs. England Test Series followed by India's win in Benson &Hedges World Series Cup in Australia ..Channel 9 coverage was so awesome ..such a contrast to the drab DD coverage..used to wake up at 5:30 AM to watch the matches..:)
vayuu1 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 1987 wc border getting wicket of mike gatting I was 3 then.
SLICKR392 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 2001, Ind vs Aus Mumbai Test. With no cable at home, watched it at a neighboring grocery store.
