CG Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Losing 6 tests in a row he came back well.He lead well with the bat and his captaincy was aggressive Unlike Ahem AhemHe is sometimes too aggressive for his resources like the declaration in india. But i would anyday take a aggressive captain over defensive one. Also I liked how before the test he said- Michael Clarke vowed to have the last laugh on all those who mocked his suggestion Australia could still win the Ashes after a crushing defeat at Lord's left them 2-0 down in the five-match series.
Crookbond Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 He captained really well in this Test match - you have to give it to him.
Clarke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Testing times for him, hope he & Oz have the last laugh when Eng tour later.
Sajid_Rana Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 England is happy to retain the Ashes while Clarke is celebrating over having last laugh and moral victory. Great to see how the tides have turned. Against the Mcgrath/Warne Eng used to cherish the moral victories & being competitive despite losing all ashes series.
Temujin Khaghan Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 clarke is also a gun batsman against both spin and pace. he can hold his own against spin on indian dustbowls, where ponting didnt really extend his dominance. clarke uses his feet well against spinners. hope he wins atleast 1 game in the ashes to salvage some pride.

asterix Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I don't think he captained well... He missed quite a few tricks including not giving enough overs to Smith... He did lead from the front so, :hatsoff:
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 err.. he is a rubbish captain and a more than decent batsman. Ponting was miles ahead in both the fields
King Tendulkar Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 poor skipper team has infigting and splits and people call him good skipper. Poor manager of people Homework anyone!!!
saneindian Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Kudos for having successfully destroyed the team by letting go of Katich, forcing Hussey into retirement and the homework gate, at loggerheads with Watson? As bad a captain as Dhoni is, at least we have never had dirty mud slinging on each other by players in public on a tour nor have we had players suspended for not doing their homework properly or players being chosen and dropped at whims and fancies. Picking Agar over Lyon, moving Hughes everywhere in the batting order before being dropped, demoting himself in the last test - too many questionable decisions on this tour itself! He did lead from the front in this test though and credit to him for that.
Iconoclast Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 He won the toss .. otherwise Australia would have gotten flattened again. The guys a terrible captain ... both in leadership ability and tactics.
Vilander Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Katich was a disaster, so is Watson going to be...not sure abt his leadership skills. But he is a phenomenal batsman.
carnish Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 @ those saying he is a good captain or better than Punter ... :hysterical:
King Tendulkar Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Honestly cant believe anyone thinks Clarke is good skipper. Currently worst skipper in international cricket. Maybe tactically ok. But thats not just what being a skipper is about. His man mangt is horrendous and he has wrecked team spirit.
diga Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 moving Hughes everywhere in the batting order before being dropped' date=' .[/quote'] Hughes was dropped as it was a spinning track & in Smith they wanted a backup to the spinner.. Dave Warner was always the first choice after his big hundred in south africa. Its another matter that Smith was not used effectively.
BeautifulGame Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Katich was a disaster' date=' so is Watson going to be...not sure abt his leadership skills.
