maniac Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I will ruffle a lot of feathers and don't want to be a buzkill but the Delhi Rape Case is a prime example why independence day should not be celebrated this year or stories like the Dalit boy not being allowed in a school on one extreme or poor middle class forward caste boy not getting the grooming he deserves due to caste politics....2 extreme ends of the spectrum. How many terrorist incidents in the last few years? Has femal infanticide stopped? Yes we are a 100 times better than our neighbours and african countries but is not a great benchmark it is. Just to commemerate the Delhi case,I dont care about the indepencdence day this year

I am still hurt about the incident and hence still kept my avatar.. there is a long way to go..
The Outsider Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I had a discussion with my grandfather, who is close to 85-90 about how the desperate situation of the nation is any cause of celebration for it's independence, and he said, "Beta tum ne angrezon ka zamaana dekha nahin, is liye aisa bol raho ho". From a personal perspective I still don't see any reason to celebrate a day for an event, but just wanted to share this in light of some comments on the thread.

Had we (you know who am I pointing to) been desperate and aggressive, we would have got our independence way before. Anyways, happy independence day to all :isalute: I have written a poem, will share that in a while. :icflove:
