NEW DELHI: Yasin Bhatkal, the founder of Indian Mujahideen, has been arrested by Indian agencies from the India-Nepal border on Thursday after being on the run for over five years. According to sources, IB and other Indian agencies took Yasin Bhatkal in custody at Sonauli border of Nepal near Gorakhpur. 30-year-old Yasin Bhatkal, one of India's most-wanted terrorists, was picked up by security agencies along with another IM leader Akhtar, official sources said. Sources say special teams had been camping in Darbhanga in Bihar for some time for his arrest as RAW and IB played a crucial role in tracing his whereabouts. A special cell of Delhi Police was also near the Bihar-Nepal border since last one week anticipating the arrest. According to reports, the NSA has met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and briefed him about the arrest of Bhatkal. However, the home ministry is yet to make an official confirmation of the arrest. The NIA is likely to get the first custody of the top terrorist. Yasin Bhatkal is accused of masterminding several terror strikes including Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad blasts. His real name is Ahmad Zarar Siddi Bappa. He is also known by the alias Shahrukh. Yasin Bhatkal's arrest comes close on the heels of arrest of another top terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda.

Another IED planting expert arrested with him, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi. Haddi is Son of well-known doctor, Javed Akhtar of Azamgarh. diga Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that Bhatkal, accused in Hyderabad and Mumbai blasts, was arrested from Bihar-Nepal border on Wednesday night and he is the custody of the Bihar police. “Yasin has been traced and he is under the custody of the Bihar police. The interrogation is going on. Till now, this is the only information,†Mr. Shinde told reporters outside Parliament House. Yasin along with three aides Tahaseen Akhtar Wasim Aktar Shaikh, Asadulla Akhtar Javed Akhtar and Waqas alias Ahmed were allegedly behind three coordinated bomb explosions at Opera House, Zaveri Zazaar and Dadar West in Mumbai on July 13, 2011, leaving 27 dead and 130 injured. Yasin is also wanted in the German Bakery blast in Pune on February 13, 2010, that left 17 dead. The IM leader is wanted in a string of terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. Except Tahaseen, who planted a bomb in the Dadar blast, the rest three were also involved in the four coordinated low-intensity explosions, which struck the busy arterial road in the heart of Pune in August 2012. Secret operation The operation to arrest Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal was so secret that even after his arrest only few top Bihar Police officers were informed and they too were not told about where he was being held for questioning, an officer said. Bihar Police played a major role in the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal, who is wanted in bomb blasts across the country, Bihar Police chief Abhayanand said here on Thursday. “It was Bihar Police that mainly helped NIA (National Investigation Agency) and other government agencies to arrest Bhatkal,†Abhyanand told mediapersons in Patna. Bhatkal was arrested from the India-Nepal border on Wednesday night and is in the custody of the Bihar Police. “A team of Bihar Police officials have interrogated Bhatkal at a secret place after he was arrested,†he said. East Champaran district Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar said that Bhatkal would be brought to Motihari from Raxaul under tight security before being taken to Delhi. According to a senior officer at the Police Headquarters in Patna, the entire operation to arrest Bhatkal was kept a close secret till the last moment. “A few selected police officers were aware of the special operation to arrest Bhatkal,†the officer said. An additional director general of police rank officer told IANS on condition of anonymity that even after Bhatkal was arrested, only few top officers were informed and they were also not told about where he was kept for interrogation. “It was a very sensitive case, so information was not shared with others except those involved in this operation,†he said. The State government has sounded an alert across Bihar, particularly in the border districts following Bhatkal’s arrest. “We have alerted district police officials and asked them to keep a close watch...,†an official of the state home department said.

He is 30-years-old. Bhatkal, whose real name is Mohammed Ahmed Siddibappa, is said to be a co-founder of the Indian Mujahideen along with the other Bhatkals, brothers Riyaz and Iqbal. The three belong to Bhatkal, a coastal Karnataka town and are said to have started their terror outfit there, disappearing around 2008-09. Their families still live there. Yasin, who was arrested last night near the Nepal border is said to be an expert bomb-maker and a master of disguises. He has proved slippery before. In December 2009, Yasin, already wanted for blasts in Delhi and Hyderabad, was picked up by the Kolkata police in a case of theft. A few days later, he walked out of the Shakespeare Sarani police station. He had convinced the police that he was Bulla Mallik, a resident of Kolkata. The Kolkata police realised only later that they had netted Yasin Bhatkal and allowed him to walk out. His next alleged attack came soon after. In 2008, as the Karnataka police attempted to smoke out Indian Mujahideen operatives, Yasin Bhatkal escaped by the skin of his teeth because the cops delayed a raid in Chikamagalur. Twice, CCTV camera footage from bomb blast sites have captured images of him - in the 2010 German Bakery blast in Pune and again in the Hyderabad blast in February this year. Another photograph available is that from a passport application under an assumed name in Ranchi. Bhatkal, a class 10 dropout, who later went to Saudi Arabia where he was allegedly indoctrinated and trained under the supervision of Pakistan's ISI. In 2010, his brother was arrested at Mangalore airport by the police who thought he was Yasin. The government said it had netted a prize catch. He was later released and a red-faced Home Minister P Chidambaram cautioned the police to "exercise restraint." The Indian Mujahideen that he allegedly helped set up, taps disgruntled Indian youth for terror activities. The organisation is closely aligned with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was responsible for the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. The Indian Mujahideen was declared a terrorist organisation by India in June 2010 and by the USA a year later.

Can be used to arrest many more. Is worth alive more to us and can be used to show-case Pak's duplicity in the international forums

Lol, go ahead, US has turned a blind eye again and again and again to Pak's doings against India. They only accept very high level proof like they did with Kasab's
