And zero outside subcontinent. He is Jayawardne of ODIs. :giggle:
Even in subcontinent only when you got opportunity and only when you get a bit or pomotion or when you have lot of overs left a late order batsman can score a 100. Tendulkar despite opening for the best part of his career has a grand total of 1 century out of 46 ODIs in Australia. That too happened only in 2008. So for a lower order batsman it is all the more difficult to register a 100. How would you rate Tendulkar's 98 in comparison with his 140 against Kenya? Which one is more valuable?

Even one of the 50's he scored in Australia in a notout and matchwinning effort came against the Loins :hysterical:
Somehow 44 not out is a very poor score since it is 6 runs less than 50 :finger: . Unless you come up with a better lower middle order batsman who has done remotely what Dhoni has done just shut up.

Dhoni scored 4 consecutive 50s against England (3 in England 1 in India) Let me list you the sequence 33,6,69,78*,50* - in England vs England 87*, 35*, 15*,75* in India vs England 29,44*,56 in Australia vs Australia Then 113*,54*,36 in India vs Pakistan Please quit it.. you sound so stupid.

The same Loins against which Nohit 'tailunted' Sharma can't score runs for his life. And in that match Dhoni didn't hit any boundaries IIRC, won the match only through running between the wickets.

Well what good is a record in ICC tournament if you don't have the cup. He played the innings that mattered (along with gambo).. Stats in ODI's hardly matter, its the runs in the important games that count.
How low mental capacity does one need to have to not realize that not winning in the quarter or semis would also mean no world cup? Way to belittle everyone else's attribution to the win. When losing at any stage of quarter, semis and final would have caused us to crash out and not win, how is one match more important than the other. Final was against SL too while other matches were against tougher opponents. Are you getting confused because trophy was awarded after tge final? You do realize the trophy was for entire tourney and not just final. This is like the kids logic who eats 7 buiscits to satiate his hunger and thinks the 7th is the important one as his hunger stopped after eating that one.
Didn't Tendulkar say he would swap his man of the series for tournament win implying he rated a match winning knock in the final is better than all the runs he scored in the 2003 tournament.
He would also swap All the loses in WC 92, 99 and 2007 where we came back with a big lota because of lack of performance in league and knock outs. Then you could have sat at home and applauded the imaginary final where he could have performed

2003 also we came back with a big lota.. In big tournaments nobody remembers the loser side.. whether you finish 2nd or 8th. It doesn't matter. From a personal standpoint yea we got that far much like Srilanka has been doing. It is also an assumption that India would have lost had Tendulkar not scored in earlier matches. Only 3 teams crossed 200 against us. One Australia in final, Two Pakistan (275), Three Keny (225). Give a bit of credit to our bowlers.

People always give 2011 WC as an example of what happens if no one plays well in final. ;Apart from the fact that I would like to see Dhoni chase 350 against all time great Aussie team in Aus and that I am pretty sure we would have still won against Lanka even if Dhoni was out cheaply; ) When I point out 87, 92, 96, 99, and 2007 WC as examples of what happens when no one plays well before the final, they don't reply

We have won against Lanka many many times. Weren't we chasing against Aussies? My point was after Dhoni failed someone had to score in those matches, whether Sachin or UV. Things like match which mattered, innings which mattered belittle what was the perfect example of a team effort

In all the world cups bar 2007 atleast someone has played well for us in most of the matches. SL most of the time manages to get to the final. Why is it very hard for them to win despite reaching finals regularly. :winky:

If he had scored couple of 50s in the league phase and get duck in the final would you trade that scenario? Being a lower middle order batsman expecting him to rack up 500 runs in a world cup is ridiculous. I don't think anyone has ever done that. Either middle order or opener have done that.

I don't think he get many chances to bat long in WC. Several times, he came into bat when he had to go for his shots from ball 1 and that is the worse scenario for any batsman.

In SF- He came in 25th over. Result fail.. In Finals he would have got a lot of credit if he came at no. 4, when we were 31-2 but he waited till things eased out. To be honest, Gambhir and Kohli bailed us out of the trouble by the time Dhoni saw the opportunity to hog the limelight.

baloney. Against Pakistan India had just lost two wickets in two balls. Tendulkar looked like getting out any time. Just that Pakistan did not hold on to their catches. He did stay around till 42nd over . Some good bowling was going on. Ajmal and Reverse swing from Wahab. India accelerated only in the 3rd power play thanks to Raina.

Also he was a bit out of touch. Can happen to a player any time. His 91 in the final is immense considering the form he was in.

actually that one innings in WC 2011 aside Dhoni has a poor record in major limited over tournaments. He sucked when we won the champions league. will be interesting to post stats on Dhoni in WC matches in total Dhoni in WC matches in 2011 Dhoni in T20 matches in WCS Dhoni in T20 matches in WC 2007 Dhoni in Champions trophy matches Dhoni in Champions trophy matches 2013 Apart from the final of 2011 WC. Not many major innings in tournaments of note.....
