Your First memories of SRT

:giggle: Remember those days when Cheeka would be in an attacking mood and Shastri would get the strike and somehow sneak in a run on the last ball and eventually Cheeka would throw it away once he got the strike :hysterical:
In terms of swagger, Cheeka matched Viv. His out-of-the-world stance, strange twisting of his nostrils and flashing square cuts are stuff of legends. It's sad that the kids of today would only know him as an old fool who blabbers while being drunk on live television and appears on dance shows.

Anyone else remember the phase in SRT's career when he considerably slowed down in terms of career S/R. This was around the time after he acheived his first one-day 100.....I beleive he took Sunny G's advice and i remember a lot of fans cursing out on sunny G for running yet another exciting cricketer...Apparently Sunny G had imparted similar wisdom to Ravi in the past....Might just be fun gully talk because there were no forums back in the day
LOL, I remember I had taken a bet with a friend that Sachin will not score a century before his 100th ODI. He did finally manage on his 79th or something.

He started scoring very fast only when he started to open in that 1994 New Zealand tour. The first 100 was later in the same year. So it was only for a few months when he used to hit cross batted shots all the time. But even later, he used to start fast and then slow down after the 15 overs.

I want to write a lot, penty of stuff about him.As the time is going by, more and more memorie have started playing on my mind and more and more it is starting to feel reality and am starting to feel it. It is like losing your family member and the affects of it on your daily life once all the people return back to their lives after attending and being with you at the time of breavement. Sachin retirement also declares a 2nd chapter of all our lives. Its not just him starting a new innings, infact I can see myself saying that my new life is starting after Sachin.

Yeah I guess.....I mean 1996 WC and Post that, he picked up pace again relatively but there was definitely a boring patch between 94-96

TRUE. Sachin was on TV when there was only one channel, then Sachin was on TV when the metro channel came and Sachin was still on TV when they were a thousand channels. A good reminder to all us that our childhood is finally over.

Oh Ok.....Not a fan of Racing....Just know that they represented a certain era was a part of my childdhood and youth Also as I try to recollect any other memories I might have from SRT's early days I just randomly remembered that the first match I actually saw outside DD, when cable revolution with Star TV etc was happening was the highlights of the Pak-WI game when Pak were all out for 40 odd :hysterical:

1996 world cup v Pakistan.
That was a Jadeja show....SRT was kinda lackluster in that game though wasn't he......vs SL in the S.F on the other hand :((

Does anyone remember pepsi cup from the early 90s. It was a unique experiment, where 2 players from every country played in team. India was represented by Kapil & Sachin who won the final ironically against Bharat represented by Ravi Shastri & Jadeja if I am not mistaken.

The first vivid memory of SRT was that curtailed ODI match in his debut series against Pakistan in 1989 where he smashed Abdul Quadir. Strangely though I don't remember anything else from the rest of that series, especially the test matches.
