Easier said than done. His board will lose 300 million rands if India pulls out. BCCI is a very difficult body to deal with but Haroon's ultra-confrontational attitude towards BCCI as an ICC-head didn't help the cause either. The Ashes series has shown that some of the BCCI's concerns regarding DRS were genuine. Indian cricket is the financial lifeline of the international cricket and unfortunately Indian cricket is owned by BCCI.
How am I quoted on his comment? :cantstop:

@cabby the world is full of bullies. What happened when USA invaded Iraq? Say sorry. End of discussion. If lorgat has his board's interests in mind he will do that. Pathetic from the BCCI and they deserve the critique in this instance. But lets get beyond the egos and get some cricket scheduled.

just because whole world is doing something wrong does not mean i have to accept it. sorry but its not end of discussion it would just be bcci jokers feeling good about themselves when in real life they are nothing and have done nothing and have this power only bcos of billion of fans who they are willing to screw over just to feed their pride..

lol tossing the word around so casually. you sort of made my point. So on one hand you have the bcci jokers feeling good about themselves. On the other , people in south african cricket lose their jobs. What are you going to tell the people who have to let go who have issues in front of them of how to feel their families? I did not say sorry? A cancelled tour is going to hit them like a brick. Already on twitter many people speculating that CSa may have to scale back their support for pitches and coaches in black townships. So Lorgat sucks up to the bcci and says sorry in a nice and cheap way. BCCI maybe play 4 tests this summer and return back for the limited overs in November next year just before the Aus tour maybe.

that word was added intentionally and no saying it in sentence to be polite is one thing but accepting you are wrong when you are not cos of bullying is other and u live in england u should know this better as its ur first language also tour is being cancelled cos of bcci and not him.. to blame it on person who did nothing wrong is ridiculous ..please just blame bcci who are misusing their powers and making mockery of international commitments by pulling tours out of their ass and cancelling matches cos of problem with one particular person to me its very clear .. i know him saying sorry will lead us seeing some more matches but is that right thing to do ? def not and people supporting the bcci here is even more ridiculous..

Well nobody is saying Lorgat has to get down on his knees and beg. All he can say is "i am sorry you feel that way, I did not realise you felt as such because of my actions. I apologize if my actions caused you any angst. Let us wipe the slate clean and start again". That should end it. He does not have to say "sorry i was wrong and you were right". Be subtle and choose your wording well. The BCCI maybe the aggressor in this case, but ultimately Lorgat will be the person who did nothing to stop the damage being inflicted on them. As i said before, its very easy for you cabby to make a principled stand (or expect him to make a principled stand) when you are not at the end of result of those decisions. If what Lorgat said before that he has the interests of his board in mind, he will say sorry in the manner in which i have mentioned. It need not even be in public. He can meet the BCCI in private and say sorry to the people in power in person. Instead from what I read Lorgat as not even flown to India. now if i was the ceo of CSA, i would be on the first plane to India and get this sorted. Even the likes of Firdose Moonda are having a go at Lorgat for not taking any action. He is just there in south africa twiddling this thumbs. How is that going to help?

how can he do anything when every problem is cos of bcci? its not a ideal stand im taking its one thing i really hate in life and honestly its pure bull shyte what bcci is doing tell me how playing matches on tour is any way connected to this issue ? how do u justify that?what type of threat is this that we wont play with u ? but they will bloody well play with pakistan or any other team which have much more serious issues? i just cannot even begin to describe how stupid this action is and to me this action alone makes bcci wrong and if logart is taking a stand than how can i blame him...also keep in mind this is not first time they are having issues with anyone or first time they tried to bully some one ..sooner or later some one was going to resist them i know fully well in long run it wont work but in this situation im no way in hell gonna support this pathetic board who is using all its power to bully others instead of making cricket better. and no a public apology in media about a known issue cannot mean anything else other than admitting that he was wrong who are we kidding ? u can word it in any way its still an apology after coming under pressure atleast i can figure thatm uch out and there are much smarter people in media :cantstop:

It should be 3 Tests , 3 ODI's and one T20 ..5 or 7 ODI Bi-lateral series are so borrrrrrrrrrrrrring ..I would rather have a Tri-lateral ODI series with three test playing countries or atleast with Ireland or Zimbabwe or Bangladesh as the third country rather than the bi-lateral series ..

so answer me one simple question. If Lorgat has not done anything wrong or does not want to be bullied. How come he has offered to apologise. Surely Dalmiya is simply taking him up on his offer. While the BCCI is 100% wrong. Its simply a case of taking up his invitation. Take this from me kid, when you start work there will be times when your boss does bully you (even if your right). This happened to me. I bit my tongue and said sorry. Then jumped ship when the chance came. I get a feeling you are still a student and are not aware of the pressures of the world. In addition, the BCCI will simply argue they did not sign anything with regards to the itinerary and are offering to play 2 tests 3 ODIs and 1 T20 and meeting the demands of the future tour program. What exactly have the BCCI broken in terms of promises of even ICC law? CSA cant even goto a court to complain as India are ready to play a shortened tour.

Thing is BCCI wont want to lose one of their strongest and longest ally for nothing. There must be something that was cooked behind the doors which people do not know.

BCCI is more like China than India, overpowering, authoritarian, domineering, powerful and they like teaching lessons pretty scary. One does not mess with such characters. BCCI are not India, cricket world can not mess with them, its understood. Lograt will be brought down to earth that's how the world works unfortunately, the powerful mostly have their way. But who cares he looks like a power-hungry person himself.

the way i see it the fundamental problem was moving the matches from Eden Gardens in WC2011. that was like a personal slap to Dalmiya. Lorgart was pretty rude about it as well. I am sure if Pawar was in charge there would not be that much bad blood. Thats what i have been told by my cousin who is a member of the MCA. As things stand the CSA original tour of 7 ODIs was ridiculous. This should have been a 1 T20 5 ODI and 3 test series spanning about 50 days on tour. There was no need for 2 T20s and 7 ODIs. Thats like adding another week to fit in 3 games. Play the five ODIs up front. Then the tests and end with a single t20. 21 days of play in a 50 day tour. Thats a good ratio. Start the tour on 21st November the last week of November and end the tour on the 10th of Jan. Simple. Personally speaking i am not in favour of 4 or even 5 match tours. 3 is enough to determine who is the best and if its one sided it does not linger on and on. @Vilander BCCI is like any superpower in the world. Not just China. You think the soviets or even the Americans are somehow leaps and bounds better? Atleast china does not intervene in the internal affairs of a country (yet, they might do in the future) . I did not see them invading Iraq. This is akin to the BCCI being involved in internal affairs.

Apologize ? So what's next? Kneel before BCCI? Childish. What are they trying to prove? Why don't they just go into some nice room and sort things out, instead of being such drama queens. J Losing morality is a sign of old age and I guess these jokers should retire and take rest in some hill station. It would be nice if BCCI's srini or dalmiya apologize to the fans for emberrassing us.

No dead-lock with CSA: Dalmiya

BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya reiterated that there was no deadlock with Cricket South Africa over India's year end tour to the rainbow nation. "The tour was never off and there was no issue or deadlock (with the CSA). We have a couple of home series (vs Australia and West Indies) ahead of the South Africa series," Dalmiya said. "We will just need to work out the modalities and I'm confident it would be done in due course," Dalmiya told reporters as the CSA announced that its CEO Haroon Lorgat will meet BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel to discuss the itinerary. Dalmiya said they have more important things like the Board's annual general meeting lined up. "The AGM is the most important thing on mind at the moment. So, we are likely to announce the fixture after the AGM (on September 29)." Asked about reports that CAB is keen to host Sachin Tendulkar's 200th Test at Eden Gardens in the upcoming West Indies series, Dalmiya said: "These are all hearsay. It's difficult for me to answer to every speculation. Sometimes, it becomes embarrassing."

Decision on SA tour deferred till month end

Uncertainty remains over India's tour to South Africa this summer after CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat and BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel met in Dubai. The pair held talks on Monday evening, while both were attending the ICC Chief Executives' Conference, but did not reach any understanding on the number of matches or the dates for India's tour. CSA said confirmation will only be reached after the BCCI's AGM on September 29. Although CSA would be hopeful the BCCI arrives at a final decision by end of this month, the likelihood of a longer wait cannot be ruled out. ESPNcricinfo has learned that N Srinivasan, if he succeeds in extending his tenure as BCCI president for another year, will meet the CSA president Chris Nenzani at the ICC board meeting in London on October 16 and 17 to finalise the tour. The itinerary, as announced by CSA in July, contained three Tests, seven ODIs and two Twenty20s but India objected to it, saying it was without their consultation. They have since shortened the window for the tour, which was due to begin on November 18 and end on January 19 from 60 days to around 40 by a scheduling a home series against West Indies and bringing forward their tour to New Zealand. The time left may allow for the ICC minimum requirement of two Tests and three ODIs but the Dubai meeting gave no hint of that. Lorgat remains hopeful a solution will be found. "I am happy to say that we had a constructive meeting and I would like to thank Sanjay for his friendliness and support in trying to find a way forward," Lorgat said. "After listening to Sanjay, it is clear that we will now have to wait for the BCCI's AGM to be completed before any tour schedule can be confirmed." The BCCI's annual meeting could prove decisive in the finalisation of the tour dates, because it will determine the shape of the organisation's leadership. It is widely expected Srinivasan will be re-elected. Srinivasan and Lorgat have a history of bitterness: Srinivasan requested an investigation into Lorgat by the ICC ethics committee, and they clashed over India's request for a tax documents during the 2011 World Cup. No communication between the two boards was held between then and the Dubai meeting. What has come out of the BCCI is other fixtures - home Tests against West Indies to mark Sachin Tendulkar's 200th Test and an ODI against New Zealand that is due to played on the last day of the Wanderers Test between India and South Africa. There is also talk of a tri-series between India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan due for late November. CSA have not commented either and as far as their affiliates are concerned, the schedule as announced, still stands. Even their ticket-selling partner, Ticketpros, has the fixtures listed as CSA publicised them although they can only be purchased from October 28. The relationship between CSA and the BCCI is considered to be at at all-time low but Lorgat's statement seemed to suggest all is well. "It is key for all of us to make sure that the good relationship between our respective Boards is maintained and, in fact, strengthened and that we also honour the proud history between our two countries," he said. "Our Board Presidents are also in discussion and we will now arrange for them to meet soon after the BCCI AGM."
