So he is good at issuing politically correct statements. Good for him. The " India Lover " Akram was trashing Indian pacers in a bowling camp in Pakistan. The mark of a true " professional " as a bowling coach functioning mainly in India,. ( as you think him to be. ). :--D
Never called him India lover but you did call him a India hater or something similar. BTW when did he trash the Indian pacers in a Pakistani camp? Like an expert should do, he praises them when needed and isn't afraid to criticize them even on TV commentary. Not sure what you expect from him.

The main reason we struggled was sluggish conditions where chasing a scoreof 227 under lights required a lot of singles with uneven two paced pitches. the 2006 series in WI and 2007 WC also had the same story. the current generation won't lose such matches.
The current Indian LOI team has the best finishers in batting the game has ever seen. The early 2000s team was top heavy. So, we are often chasing down impossible targets now whichever we could not do during the early 2000s. Our bowling has not improved, if anything it has deteriorated.

yes very defensive with bowling. I had to bear with kemp' date=' bravo, morkel as a cskite all these years. :banghead:[/quote'] A bowler with less pace will always be consistent too is not true neither a consistent bowler will always be slow pace is true.

He went to coach Pakistani young pacers. There he trashed us. I did not call him an Indian hater though. But I am not really sure that a Pakistani cricketer from the most hatred filled rivalry period of cricket between the two countries is the best person to coach our bowlers. I don't know what your age is or whether you were old enough to watch cricket in the late 80s but the relationship between the cricketers of the 2 countries was very bad then. I don't think Wasim as a coach would deliberately teach wrong things to our boys but they would benefit more from other coaches.

Game has changed.indian youngsters have changed. strike rates raina-91 dhoni-88.54 rohit-76 kohli-87 sehwag-104 yuvraj-87 ganguly-73 dravid-71 kaif-72 laxman-71 obviously combining yuvraj/sehwag (when they were senior) with raina and dhoni was more destructive than it was with the mid 90's generation.while rohit is lowest at 76 its still better than ganguly,a premier batsman of the previous decade. add to that agile fielding, running between wickets(think of ganguly, sidhu and manjrekar),sharp throws, things indian teams of the past were mocked for.no wonder the ODI team is rising . In the bowling nothing major ,more 130+ bowlers available than those years ago.yet to reflect in results.
The change in game and strike rates can be seen in other teams as well, not just India. Winning in pressure situations has improved tremendously under Dhoni.

Winning in pressure situations has improved tremendously under Dhoni.[/quote'] improvements are not equal and only relative to current levels. i don't recall western teams sucking as badly in fielding or running between wickets even in the 80's.we lagged behind them in those areas and hence our improvements proved very significant at a strategic level. they were renowned for their physical prowess anyway and hence they just can maintain their current level. better talent means you always seem to win these close matches better .its like how the great players play their best and pull out blinders. because their best is better than the opponent's best when push comes to shove. one thing about dhoni is he is up there with the best in finishing.but he won't look as good in a weaker team like the 90's team. our bowlers still continue to lose close matches because they are not that good.in the future, better set of bowlers will win these matches.

Dhoni is greatest captain india ever had.I think its time for all DADA fans to Digest this fact.
Dhoni is the greatest LOI captain we have ever had. But his consecutive 0-4 results in England and Australia has greatly reduced his stature as a test captain. A test captain is mainly judged by his performances overseas, especially against the top teams.

Dhoni is the greatest WK-Bat in Indian history, the compliments start and end right there......Ganguly,Dravid,Kumble,Kapil,Pataudi are all ahead of him. Can't see Dhoni steer the team through the dark 2000 Match-fixing era- Ganguly did it and that is why emotionally for a lot of us Ganguly is the greatest,Otherwise most of them had given up on cricket during that phase,The guy doesn't even care about his team mates-Even the IPL fixing Saga which was at a much smaller scale compared to the 2000 one,the guy just didn't care or was too busy acting like a stooge Dravid- Legendary bat, and probably India's most underrated captain,Dravid's overseas Captaincy acheivements speak for themselves,Not even a contest there. Kumble-The way Kumble stood up for his team during the Aus tour during the monkey-gate is the prime example....Just look at the way Dhoni handled Laxman and Dravid retirements,Sreeshanth in South Africa(the guy turned out to be a fraud is a matter for another day) Kapil-83 Worldcup,Overseas Conditions,Legendary performances and against a team that is considered a GOAT enough said......Kapil is probably India's 2nd greatest player or maybe in some people's eyes even the 1st.....Dhoni is the 2nd best Allrounder for India ever, enough said. Pataudi-By All acounts the first captain of "Team India"-So for that he needs to be respected alone,But maybe Dhoni can be above him but that's about it.

If you can't win there then you aren't close to the best. Ganguly managed to draw 1-1 in Australia, beat England at home and did well against South Africa. That's no mean feat. Dhoni when the going was tough in the Australian series decided to put fielders back for Pattinson and Siddle out of all players.

SL team without Dilshan, Sangakkara and Jayawardene is a big hole and will find it difficult to beat Bangladesh and Ireland.

But Indian batsmen were much better' date='even today no Sri Lankan batsman averages 40+[/quote']

Although the sample size is small' date=' but I like Ajay Jadeja as a captain.. He was pretty innovative and attacking whenever he captained..[/quote'] :agree: I think he would have made a superb ODI captain, in particular.

None of them would be remembered by Kapil for captain. There is history books and after Kapil, it is only Dhoni who has achieved 3 times of glory + ODI/Tests No.1 ranking. The facts aren't there with you but rather the usual emotional appeal on how Ganguly was more connected. The fact is under Ganguly, we weren't used to success so any nice victory was taken very emotional. But under Dhoni, we have simply become to used to good, quality wins and trophies and winning is just a ordinary event and doesn't get praised or mentioned equally.

:agree: I think he would have made a superb ODI captain' date=' in particular.[/quote'] Yeah.. he was a bit like the dhoni of that age wasn't he? Tactically more imaginative but was kinda icy cool in situations..
