Selectors are at fault for overlooking best efforts of Ishant. Dont blame him. After all , what else he can do to be dropped. Please steal the show from Tendulkar by voluntarily retiring from International Cricket after Wankhede...

Bhuvi and Ishant on bench let Umesh and Shammi be fast bowlers for first test.
Why this bias against one the best bowling talent we have? Oh let me guess, a blind speed gun worshiper who just assumes, hey he will be bad with old balls (even though he picks bucket loads of wickets in domestic), his pace won't trouble anyone (though it has troubled the best batsmen till now), yada, yada

Joginder sharma also has better FC stats than Bhuvi does that mean he is going to be effective in international cricket.

So a young exciting talent finally comes and we write him off after 2 tests because the great Nostradamus here can foresee what he can do in the future. He has beaten batsmen on the defensive in ODIs again and again and again from same length. On the other hand, if someone bowls 5kph higher he can be as cr@p as Ishant has been and can get years of support from the same fans I have coined a new term speed gun junkie for such fans. Their entire judgement of a bowler will depend first and foremost on how much someone is clocking on a speedgun

in test matches it is always more about movement and length than speed. Movement is something you wont find in the two tests and length is something he needs to work on. If you think he is exciting talent feel free, I don't think he is going effective unless conditions suit him. Both Shammi and Yadav bowl yard fuller so will be more effective for these tests. You might not agree but hey that's why we have opinions.

I seriously can't believe I am reading this. There were edges which didn't carry, dropped catches (?) as well. You can't just look at it one way. You may be ultimately right about B Kumar but you can't make a judgement after 4 Test matches on the flattest of tracks. The way I see it - if not for B Kumar, India would have never won the Mohali Test match within 4 days.

there were lot of edges of Praveen kumar too in England where it was seaming and swinging but they never carried due to his lack of pace.He beat the bat regularly in first two tests which I saw other two I did not see them. Praveen at his best could move ball both ways better than Bhuvi who is predominantly is inswing bowler who can straighten the ball .If PK had 10 kmph more he would be as good as Philander but at 120 kmph you don't get edges that carry. I am not writing off BK he will play and should play in SA for first test, I feel both yadav and Shammi might be more effective for these two tests.

Praveen Kumar>>>B Kumar, India's best bowler in England! 2nd best in WI, then dropped based off Asia Cup ODI's  Still averages 25 in test cricket after 2 overseas series. He was bowling 130-135 not 125 in England. Seemed the same pace playing for :kxip: in recent IPL. Is he injured? Would be better than Bhuvi as swing bowler overseas. The 5 wicket haul in England was so impressive and eliminated theories he could not get wickets with older ball.

Not fit right now. Not even playing for UP.

If we pick two pacers then it would be a very tough choice. Umesh, who has a strike rate of 46 in tests, which is very very good, would be my first choice. We need wicket takers in tests. The second slot would pose a tough dilemma. Both Shami and Bhuvi deserve to be in the team equally.

Praveen was very impressive in England and West Indies. In England he was also quicker than his usual, can't remember which test but I still remember a stat that came up on tv while he was bowling it said, average speed 131.something, fastest delivery 134.something and he was somewhere in his 2nd or 3rd spell. 131 is enough for someone with his ability. He was dropped after Asia Cup or some other ODI's I think, but even Philander has poor ODI record.

Yeah just had a look. Surprisingly before this he was picked for India A ODI side and not India A 4 day. :headshake:

Without Jadeja, and not enough bowlers. I am having doubts about India winning this test series. All the bowlers in the squad are out of form.

Couldn't they find a place for Zak? I know he lacks match fitness. But i think he is running out of playing days.
you don't want him to get cramps like he did in England in his first test match. Let him prove his by fitness playing in few more domestic matches.
