India-KXIP fan Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 If it was enough we would have not been blown out in both tests ' date=' he was negated so much by batsmen standing outside the crease to counter the swing and he never had speed to push them back.[/quote'] Not Praveen's fault, just like you can't blame Australia for losing Ashes tests despite Harris' performances. PK got 15 wickets in 3 tests.

express bowling Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 in test matches it is always more about movement and length than speed. . I would say, among the 3 formats, pace as well as bounce, are most important in tests and least in t20s. In tests, just line and length are not enough to get a batsman out and it has to e coupled with pace/bounce or movement. As a test is played over a long time and the ball gets old, the pitches become slower over time and movement is not always on offer, pace acts as an added weapon. Line and length are important in any format if a bowler wants to be top class but even for that , there is a bit more margin for error in tests. Pace is almost immaterial in t20s unless you can bowl yorkers like Malinga. Infact, sometimes it works against a bowler.
Number Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Will Rishi Dhawan get a chnce if Sir doesn't return against SA ODIs, as Irfan Pathan is injured. Or it will be a spin bowling all rounder like Parvez Rasool. or it will be Stuart Binny.

Can bowl fast and hit some runs too Or some Baba Pathan of Baroda who CI says can bowl 140, like for like replacement for Irfan pathan?
cowboysfan Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Without Jadeja, and not enough bowlers. I am having doubts about India winning this test series. All the bowlers in the squad are out of form. Same fears for me,windows are no pushovers.

Bhai naye naye naam hain yeh to, haven't even played in A team or Duleep trophy as yet AFAIK.
rajmarie Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Its no wonder that our batsman struggle against fast bowling. The reason is our selectors insistance of having Ishant do NET BOWLING to our batsman. Now we all know how good is Ishant....which translate to our batman expecting every 2nd ball to be bad...& 3rd to be hit for boundry
saneindian Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Bhai naye naye naam hain yeh to' date=' haven't even played in A team or Duleep trophy as yet AFAIK.[/quote'] Are 140+ hain, that is all that matters :--D
rajmarie Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Without Jadeja, and not enough bowlers. I am having doubts about India winning this test series. All the bowlers in the squad are out of form. Thats why I want India to play 5 bowlers. With the pitches expected to be extra batsman friendly....5 bowlers will be needed to win.

I6MTW Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Based on the squad, there are no all-rounders to replace Jadeja. So in place of Jadeja, Dhoni would have to go for an extra bowler or Rahane/Rohit.

rkt.india Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Praveen Kumar>>>B Kumar, India's best bowler in England! 2nd best in WI, then dropped based off Asia Cup ODI's Still averages 25 in test cricket after 2 overseas series. He was bowling 130-135 not 125 in England. Seemed the same pace playing for :kxip: in recent IPL. Is he injured? Would be better than Bhuvi as swing bowler overseas. The 5 wicket haul in England was so impressive and eliminated theories he could not get wickets with older ball. First test average speed 78.2 mph in first innings, 77.4 mph second innings.

He beat up Ajitesh Argal in a domestic match not too long go and he was termed 'mentally unfit' to play the game.
GautiMaan Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Selectors are greater fans of Ishant than ikxip and maniac:facepalm:
Cricketics Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Jadeja must bhi really angry here for sitting out. Who won't have liked to be part of Tendulkar's last test???
