fineleg Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Which players would u suggest (new faces, on the fringe etc) for WI odis? Rest some of the main indian players Raina, Yuvi drop or keep them?
Cricketics Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Rest Dhoni. Bring in Samson against Windies at home. Rahane can play for Kohli.
express bowling Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Pujara for Yuvraj Dhawal for Ishant Suyal for Weenie. Mohit for Unadkat. Rasool for Fatwin. Any promising leg spinner who can turn the ball. Could be tried. Pandey deserves a chance ahead of the abovementioned pacers but I am not sure whether to introduce him in these bowler massacres given that he can be a test prospect.
G_B_ Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 come on dude Unadkat basically got 1 chance. Like to see Mishra been given more chances along with Unadkat.
express bowling Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 come on dude Unadkat basically got 1 chance. Like to see Mishra been given more chances along with Unadkat. Unadkat does not move the ball much and low on pace too. Such bowlers can be sitting ducks under the current rules. Even for supporters of Unadkat, ODIs in India is perhaps the worst arena for him. Mishra definitely deserves more chance.
cowboysfan Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I wouldnt risk anybody ,bring on the B team for WI odis.
saneindian Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Bring in the youngsters and when god forbid they fail, OP can freely bash the IPL for having destroyed Indian cricket!
YoungTalent Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 1. Ajinkya Rahane 2. Sanju Samson (WK) 3. Virat Kohli (CAPTAIN) 4. Suresh Raina 5. Yuvraj Singh 6. Ambati Rayudu 7. Ravindra Jadeja 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar 9. Amit Mishra 10. Mohammed Shami 11. Jaydev Unadkat Likely team
rkt.india Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 come on dude Unadkat basically got 1 chance. Like to see Mishra been given more chances along with Unadkat. Cannot see Unadkat getting too many chances right now. Him not getting another game is an indication that team management is not sold on him.
rkt.india Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 WI is a damn good ODI team and have as big a hitters as Aus, maybe even better hitters, cannot risk losing a series against. Do not see too many changes bar one or two like Vinay, Unadkat, etc.
MCcricket Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I would love to see Pujara, Aaron, Shukla, Pandey in the ODI team.
vishalvirsingh Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Suyal Samson Rahul Shukla Varun aroon......need to play. These guys have enormous potential n Talent.

Lord Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Even rohit needs rest after test... CT-WI-Zim-Aus-WI Test Rahane should play Tests
StriKe Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Rahane should play Tests He is definite for playing XI Rohit Sharma @ImRo45 4h Thank you people it's overwhelming to see such kind of love and support.. Now in Kolkata for an exciting test series
carnish Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 No resting ,.... These guys just had 2 months of rest ... The only rest they should get now is when we finish the South Africa tour after which the BCCI has given the team a 2-week rest period. I want Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli to pile on the runs. Just imagine Sachin being rested for the Coca Cola Cup in 1998 just because it was another of those regular ODI series in Sharjah ... We have batsmen in prime form and in the golden period of their career ... And why would such players want to miss out on good ODI games after a 2 month rest period. I fail to see logic in this thread. If you want to rest some guys rest those who have not performed or are out of form ... Get Rayadu in place of Yuvraj, Umesh in place of Vinay and Pandey in place of Ishant. Thats All I can tolerate. If the selectors rest anybody else, I know I will be furious.
fineleg Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 ^ If we do as you say, then some of these players likely to pick an injury and be out of the SA series. Yes, so they are fragile and not very fit as they ought to be, but what to do - these are Indian players, and thats how they are. So, do you want to risk a non-full-strength team to SA?
saneindian Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 They may get injured playing tests vs WI as well, why not rest them from WI series itself? Or some of them may nick up injuries playing Ranji trophy, rest them from those matches too. Half the test side likely to go to SA will anyways not be playing the WI ODIs - Vijay, Pujara, Sachin, Jadeja, Ojha, Rahane , Saha (as reserve wk) and perhaps Gambhir. Umesh , Bhuvi, Shami have not played much cricket in the new season. Batsmen and spinners do not have to be rested so that rules out Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli and Ashwin being rested. In the end you are left with Dhoni. Doubt he will ask for a rest.
carnish Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 ^ If we do as you say' date=' then some of these players likely to pick an injury and be out of the SA series. So, do you want to risk a non-full-strength team to SA?[/quote'] If they are to get an injury they will get it. It can even happen in the first over of the South Africa tour. Why give them rest beforehand and let them put up some weight issues which is not so unusual for Indian players if you know what I mean. Players should never be rested from International matches when they are in their prime form. One odd match rest because of niggles are okay but to rest them from a whole series after a two month break from cricket not too long ago does not make sense. Plus I don't understand the concept of prioritizing between two International series. Why should a series against South Africa mean more than a series against West Indies?? Especially considering West Indies have a really good ODI side with some exciting talent in their ranks. How many series did Rahul Dravid sit out from in his 15 year career?? How many series did Sachin miss out on because he needed rest before 2010 ??? This concept of resting players only arises because of the extra burden of playing in IPL and Champions League but guess what Dhoni, Ashwin, Ishant did not play in Zimbabwe ... Virat was not there in Champions League ... The only guys who may need some rest are Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan and if you ask them, they would want to go to South Africa high in confidence from a good performance against an International side rather than going there after sitting at home for a month.
