Regarding technicalities, first he needs to sort out what kind of a bowler he wants to be. He is confused. He has not sort his seam position in last 4 years and it is not like he has not played FC in between. He got so many wickets in CLT20, Pak ODIs, England ODIs, WI triseries, what that confidence of getting wickets as done to him, nothing. Until he sorts his issues, he is not going to progress. He will take a few wickets in FC and will make a come back for SA tour which will worsen the things. +1. He should be sent away to rediscover himself from the basics.
CG Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Rkt is right.Ishant problem is technical just bowling in matches will not sort it out.He needs to go back to coaches and Get it right in nets first.As for him i think he just needs to watch footage of his old action and follow.He is best as a Inswing bowler even at 135-140ks.Work on action in nets Then practice it in match.

He may rediscover it if he corrects his action and practices. But he has a bigger problem. He does not use his head at all. Lacks ability to gauge match conditions and situations. Even if he corrects his action, he may get confused again. Has very low learning ability. There has never been a dumb strike bowler in history and Ishant will, in all probability, never become one. We should choose bowlers with a basic minimum thinking ability.

With talent, you need to possess an aptitude for reading match situations. He doesnt have it. How can you explain him bowling short time and time again and not learning from it?

Given his height and deck hitting bowling style, his strength should have been zip and bounce off the deck as well as seam movement. Yet, he is continuously bowling cross seam deliveries and is not sorting out his seam position. What does that tell us about him ?
