rkt.india Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 RJ will be in the 1st XI let alone squad. I think Ojha can be in the squad too. SA pitches are not what they once were, likely that one or two grounds will have a bit in it for spinners. We are not going to go in with 4 pace men in a playing XI unless its really green and hard, so itll be 3 pacemen RJ and Ashwin, if god forbid Ashwin gets injured well need spin backjup. The squad will be a 16 man one… We are playing test matches at Wnderers which will be a green track and Durban was green tack last time we toured since then it has been changed by local franchisee due to entrance of Tahir in their FC setup, but we might see it back to its traditional nature this time.
vvvslaxman Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 IT is difficult to pick who is the very best. Jadeja is only 5 tests old where as Ashwin and Ojha have played more tests. Jadeja could be an utter flop in the next series. Who knows. Ojha si better on a turning wicket, Ashwin is better on a bouncing wicket, Jadeja is dangerous on slowish wickets.
vvvslaxman Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Pick on form... Ashwin's dip in form will not viewed harshly as he can bat better than the inexperienced top order batsmen we have. For a considerable period of time he will be an integral part of India . Unless he becomes extremely bad like Bhajji was for a while, he will be given a run. As far as Jaddu goes he will fill the 5th bowler quota. Ojha will have to consider himself very unlucky.

fineleg Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 ^ what hang around? That was windies in indian pitch. Bhuvi (despite no mug with bat) and shami cannot hang around in SA against steyn, morkel and philander

Soorma_Bhopali Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 sir jaddu should get chance in test he made 3 triple century in first class carrier Agreed ..but currently his test average is 19.8 , way less than Ashwin who is at 43+ ..Ashwin looks a far assured batsmen than Jadeja or even Dhoni in Test matches , not only in India ..but even in Australia and England .. He needs to start scoring runs consistently as we can't play him just as a bowler ..HE GETS INTO THE TEAM ONLY DUE TO HIS COMPLETE PACKAGE AS GOOD SLA BOWLER + GOOD 6tH/7th BATSMEN + OUTSTANDING FIELDER ..he needs to be the sixth batsmen also to bring balance to the side .:icflove: IF he does not perform with the bat even after 3 triple centuries in FC , then everyone will know what was the true worth of those on Rajkot pata wicket a even Amit Mishra has a 200+ double-hundred , Piyush Chawla and Bhuvi also have FC hundreds ..Quality of the attack and pitch are questionable

Detonator Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Ojha deserves to be in XI for SA tour. It would be unfair to drop him. But that would force ashwin to bat @ 7, which imo is not good.

So a three time triple -centrion in Ranji Trophy does not count as "Proper Batsmen" for you ????:omg: FYI : Jadeja started more as a batsmen who could bowl types ..it's his first season in intl cricket ..I don't think his bowling will be enough to warrant him a place in the Test XI just as a bowler ..he may not have so good a happy hunting time as he had with Australia at home ..he needs to be a Good SLA Bowler AND a middle-order batsmen good enough to bat at no.6 OTherwise, I see Ojha taking his place in Test XI

Life so easy then i.e guys scores triple ton in ranji so can bat 6 in international cricket away to SA and Steyn and co. Alas things a tad more complicated then that

Alas things a tad more complicated then that Agreed ..but we have Dhoni,Ashwin and Jadeja as "Almost" batsmen all-rounders ..Therefore , i don't think we need some pure batsmen like Rahane at no.6 and disturb the balance of the team with 4 bowlers ..I would play 5 batsmen , w/k , 3 pure bowlers, 2 bowling all-rounders ( Ashwin and Jadeja) in ALL CONDITIONS ..one of Dhoni/Ashwin or Jadeja will be bound to succeed in every innings ( LAws of probability :two_thumbs_up:) and that will serve as our 6th batsma:weights:n
King Tendulkar Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 ^ way to brave Dhoni and jadeja could be walking wickets Bits and pieces players get you no were in test cricket
Lord Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 and jadeja can ? he could not even hang around in india and bhuvi did same against australia did Ashwin hang around v Australia, when they toured us?he had even poorer series with the bat than Jaddu you cant see on that one series,Jaddu is surely a better batsman than BK and Shami
Old guy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 did Ashwin hang around v Australia, when they toured us?he had even poorer series with the bat than Jaddu you cant see on that one series,Jaddu is surely a better batsman than BK and Shami i never said he is not but we do not really need all rounder we need proper bowler cos our tail can wag and ashwin did hang around in australia vs australia so there is ability btw ashwin has looked better than jadeja in whatever tests he played there is no question in my mind he is better batsman and 3 big 100's on road against b grade sides would not change that

adi B Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 ^ way to brave Dhoni and jadeja could be walking wickets Bits and pieces players get you no were in test cricket how about this :winky: play 6 bowlers dhawan nohit chepu kohli dhoni jadeja ashwin bhuvi shami yadav zak

If Jaddu can provide that extra batting cushion, then whats the problem. Its not like Ojha got wickets and Jaddu got smashed. He just didnt play v WI,we can never say how he'd have done.
