Old guy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 he scored a very good 40 odd at a square turner in Delhi IIRC in Aus series. anyway as I said hes not had enough chances to judge yet imo. no other 9 players all have not come in recent past.only Hussey and Pujara.both are good too. If Jaddu can provide that extra batting cushion, then whats the problem. Its not like Ojha got wickets and Jaddu got smashed. He just didnt play v WI,we can never say how he'd have done. did i say drop jaddu now ? see the topic of thread and my response was pick on form.. all i said was when deciding just decide upon bowling cos that is primary reason of picking team and then comes batting .. if and i said "if" jaddu is not bowling well and ojha is do not pick jaddu cos he can bat..:winky: hope i am clear !

Oh okay, thats fair enough.but if the difference in bowling form is not too much, batting can be considered,right?:--D
Old guy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Oh okay' date='thats fair enough.but if the difference in bowling form is not too much, batting can be considered,right?:--D[/quote'] if ojha is bowling better then he should be picked think about it man we play 4 bowlers at home with 2 fast bowlers who are not effective most of times so 2 spinners do majority of work ..so just pick spinners based on bowling alone IMO ..if its 5th bowling spot than pick jaddu

I mean sometimes all 3 are bowling well but one is unlucky to not pick wickets, like Ojha was in Kolkata. Sammy is neither here not there.totally different case.doesnt bowl his overs and bats at 8

Soorma_Bhopali Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 ^ way to brave Dhoni and jadeja could be walking wickets Bits and pieces players get you no were in test cricket Dhoni ,Jadeja or even ashwin are not bits and pieces players by any stretch of imagination
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 while jadeja is a threat to ojha, its not the same in reverse... ashwin is the threat to jadeja, not ojha... since we now have a genuine Test allrounder in ashwin, we dont need a odi allrounder like jadeja... so the more ashwin scores off his bat, the less we need jadeja's batting so jadeja will be fighting for a spot in a five man bowling unit with ojha primarily as a bowler...
GoldenSun Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Jadeja still needs to make more of a significant impact with the bat for me to completely trust him.
Gunner Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Jadeja. I don't like Ojha because he chucks.
Soorma_Bhopali Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Jadeja. I don't like Ojha because he chucks. no ..it's optical illusion due to the angles he create ..no way is he a chucker
jf1gp_1 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 If tests are played at home, subcontinent or even WI then there is place for both; dont see any reason why we need 3 seamers. Remaining place where you dont need 3 spinner it by default becomes Jaddu given he and ashwin make up for 6th specialist batsman. There could actually be some instances when even playing 2 spinners wont make sense then on those rare occasion we might even play a 6th specialist batsman over both Jaddu or Ojha
Texan Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Still Jadeja. Ojha loves the Wankhede pitch and has always performed well there. Need to see him bowl well elsewhere. Also, batting-wise, there is a difference of ocean-like proportions between Jadeja and Ojha.
wanted_desi Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I would Play Jajeja and play four seamers, I dont think we have good 6th batsman to make much difference anyways. Jadeja and Rahane are pretty much going to average same with bat anyways. lol

rkt.india Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Bhai we struggle to put 2 quality seamers ' date=' where will the remaining 2 come from.[/quote'] We certainly have 4 quality seamers right now for SA conditions in Zak, BK, Shami, and Umesh. All 4 can make use of those conditions.

Jadeja and Rahane are pretty much going to average same with bat anyways. lol[/quote'] 4 seamers are not effective on even PERTH or South Africa pitches nowadays .too one-dimensional an attack and most of the time, such an attack with struggle to finish 90 overs a day .Remeber 2007-2008 when Aussies got four man pace attack against us but still lost by 93 runs.if Dhoni wants to get banned for tests, then only he can adopt this strategy .:hysterical: I can understand if any team has a WI 1970's like 4-man pace attack of Roberts,Garner,Marshall and Holding but for Team India , no way !!!!!!!:hitler:
