Bit unfair on Fletcher, I think. He was given a test time with Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Zaheer all on the wrong side of 30. The results in England and Australia were disgraceful but that was Kirsten's team and our seniors were clearly not arsed. In the last two years, Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin, VVS, Dravid, Zak and Harbhajan have been booted out of ODI and Test team(retired in cases of Sachin and Dravid). The transition in the ODI team has been flawless. I genuinely believe our team of CL 2013 would've beaten our team of WC 2011. Players like Kohli, Ashwin, Pujara, Shami, Jadeja have really progressed under Fletcher.

What foundation was built under kirsten?He got a team which was on a high after great Test series in england and australia and cb series wins.He rarely got any new blood ,fletcher had to see over the whole transition .If u have to thank some one thank greg chappell or Dravid or Colonel who selected all those stars of today.

How on earth were the foundations of this ODI Team built under Kirsten? Our team in the WC 2011 finals was Tendulkar, Viru, Gautam, Kohli, Yuvi, Dhoni, Raina, Harbhajan, Zak, Patel and Sreesanth. How many of them are in the current XI right now? Fletcher has oversaw the development of Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami, Shikhar as genuinely international class ODI players. Then there are the likes of Kohli who have upped their performances under Fletcher and have become world class. There's no doubt that our test performances away needs to be improved, let's wait and watch until the SA Series to see how he goes on as this is the first team that a team compiled by Fletcher is going to tour overseas. We should also remember that our batting lineup lacks experience and even the likes of Dravid, Ganguly struggled abroad when they first arrived(ignore their first English series. The SA and Australia series abroad proceeding them was a disaster).

But somehow only home wins which are looked down upon and cheapened are Indian home wins. Aussies got trounced by India and England on away tours but nobody is even bringing it up. Everyone pooh poohs India's home wins which includes many Indians sadly. Let us take proteas for example they got trounced by SL away in five match series but it seems like no one even remembers it yet Indians losing two lousy odis is very big deal.
