India's best left hand batsman in tests

who is it ? I have watched cricket from 90's. Is gambhir a fair call. He was good but never great and ganguly had one good knock in aus. Strange thing I noticed most of our lefties have short ball phobia(yuvraj,raina,ganguly, kambli). Is this something with coaching since we dont have good left handed bats.

Ganguly /thread In tests its not even a worth a comparison btw Ganguly and Gambhir . SG is miles ahead In ODIs much closer though

absolutely..in odis both have pretty identical record but ganguly's great record in icc tournament including 7 tons pushes him slightly ahead,gambo cant be ruled out in tests though

Ganguly easily in tests. In ODI's, close call between UV/Gambo.

Gambhir played greatest knock under pressure by an Indian in the world cup, though he hasn't achieved a lot in his career as Ganguly. When Gambhir hangs his boots, he probably will have though. So for now, it's Ganguly.

In tests it has to be Ganguly. In ODI's it is debatable as Gambhir, Yuvraj and Ganguly all had great impact in that format.

Hmm.. yes I wanted to see If we had any quality left hand bat before looks like we had no one. Do we know the reason though why we lacked left handed bats? Is it because left hand in india is considered bad in early days more of a culture thing.

In street cricket, with limited space and players, most of us only field at offside. I am left handed, and the fellow guys ask me like "why are u batting wrong way?". :hmmm: but we play awful cricket :giggle:
