If a guy does not have it in him to bowl at great speed nobody can do anything. If umesh suddenly drops his pace we should not search people to blame for drop In speed in a match scenario.

Indian fan's frustration is due to the lack of skill to go along with the drop in pace......Look at Zak,probably one of the few examples who found success when he dropped a few yards of pace....When I say drop in pace was still a 135-140 bowler when in rythm. Then there are guys like Tait,Johnson(pre-IPL2013) or even Malcom sami who are spray guns and will probably end up with a similar eco rate as a Vinay or Unadkut on most days but they can hurt you and batsmen are constantly on their toes. We would prefer Umesh being a 150+ bowler who gets smashed than Vinay Kumar.....there lies the difference

I would prefer 4 Pacers, at least in Durban. Zak, Umesh, Shami BK Rohit can do the part time off spins in absense of Ashvin who is same class in foreigh conditions. But if I understand Mr Captain Cool he will go for his favorites and attack will look like Zak, Shami Ishant Ashvin

i will prefer this bowling lineup for india: zak shami fatwin ojha people underestimate ojha, but he is a type of bowler whom dhobi can turn to, as he can bowl day in and day out.

He won,t be looking at clock speed every ball.[/quote'] Its also due to diff between odis and test.Most of speeds clocked by our pacers are in odis where they can go flatout.Then we see the diff in tests where pace drops so people say the guy dropped pace also many just look at top speed rather than average speed which by far the better indicator of sustained speed.

Yes. Average speed is what is important. Shami had pretty much the same average speed as Ryan Harris in 2 tests he played.

Exactly I am worried if shammi ishant n zak is picked along wth a spinner N Umesh is benched...... I am quite confident Umesh shud ideally be the second pacer in the line up after shammi Bcos I guess zak may not Go full throttle....... I just read a post Dinda bowling 20 overs in One Spell....- did I understand that correctly But Yes a fast bowler shud be able to bowl a 7 over spell at full speed and then he shud be compared fully fit. Zak at full fitness can easily sustain 138K speed on an average and bowl between 135 to 140.....if he is bowling slower than that then he will just restrict but won't take many wickets...... Same applies to Ishant -if he does not average 138K with slightly short of good length he won't fetch wickets....... If lambu bowls 135K average he won't suceed.... I am very excited with Shammi as he is averaging 141 and consistently Bowling 138 to 145.... Umesh is the fastest n most talented n he shud be supported the most but I m bothered if dhobi plans to bench him ....

Even at 145k Harris had to hit spectacular line and length still he was unlucky yesterday. Hope our bowlers hit the right line and length at top speed.

Zak and Shami opening with Umesh and ashwin seems the obvious choice. Just cos BK has been playing odis does not mean he cant adapt but the pace of Umesh will be more important in this series and there is only 1 spare spot so a decision has to be made Also after Ishants odi "exploits" he is probably in contention more than we think, zak shami ishant lineup would not surprise me.
