Ya.. Steyn and Morkel used the surface the best. Everyone else was average there. McLaren got some wickets.. But mostly he bowled rubbish.

Sachin batted a feet outside the crease against him when he was bowling a great spell in Cape Town and even then he stretched his front foot to get to the pitch. But none of these guys are half as good as him.

It is difficult to bat outside the crease against Steyn because he can anytime surprise you with 145-150K pace. He is not like our BK or Mohit who will bowl 135 at best. One thing to do against Steyn is play the original line and not follow it. You will only be beaten and not edge. Rohit was doing very much though he did fell for following the ball on occasions but he saw off Steyn. If you follow the swing, you will get an edge sooner or later, so Steyn's first 4-5 overs when he is swinging the ball a mile like yesterday are really crucial.

Simple, Dhawan should face him. Steyn isn't the same self while bowling to lefties. And if Dhawan can get going and put Steyn off the mark early it will work for others. This is the only way he can be handled.

Bhatti toyed with Steyn in ODIs and smashed him all over the park in one of the game. Steyn was almost in tears. Being aggressive Steyn seems to be only way working at this time.

In JOhanusburg your entire line up would have been all out for 20 runs against Steyn :cantstop: . You want to see how Bhajji whacked Steyn for straight six in the last Test series in SA? You guys played on conditions very similar to UAE. INdia played on the fastest pitch in SA in a while as per their own admission.

i think rohit made him look better than he bowled. i am his biggest fan and have not missed one match but honestly he has bowled much better than this before and played much more better by other team rohit has bad habit of keeping his front foot planted on off stump and not really staying balanced at start so he is always going to struggle in odis here like he did 2-3 years ago when we toured last time . best thing will be too not give him wickets and rohit should just play those balls which are t his body as he has decent technique for that and he even covers for swing decently when its closer..play him out bat first and put 260 on board

Rohit clearly did not hide that he was being owned by Steyn. Reminds me of how Ross Taylor was clueless against Malinga in 2007 world cup. He wanted to do something. Did not know what to do. Same case with Rohit. He had no real back up technique. I expect Vijay to slightly do better when ball it ouside the off. But if Steyn starts from middle stump line Vijay will have some serious trouble

i do not know how people on icf rate technique for me its ability to stay balanced and deal with wing and not just having high elbow and straight bat technique also includes covering for swing and playing at last moment while rohit commits to playing the ball way to early! just cannot wait to see how pujara plays here cos he is onl guy in this team who does not commits to shot and can defend at very last moment:winky:

like i said he commits to play shot too early and with late swing of steyn he kept missing it an experienced player like tendulkar would have tried to stand way out of crease and try to only play ball which he absolutely has too and if he does play shots they will not be from crease and defense wont be from back foot :winky: if you think you can defend from crease without going forward better leave it cos chances are ball will go over stumps...
