putrevus Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Bhuvaneswar has dropped in pace. He did bowl at 135 k earlier. Now it is poor. Worse is he is bowling all over the shop. He looked like having a steady head. But i am always skeptcal about every single Indian bowler, fast, super fast, medium fast, trundler pace everyone goes off the boil in double quick time. Pace doesn't come just naturally to us. Even the medium pacers should gain pace over the years and add a bit of pace or atleast when they bowl effort ball that should touch a good speed like Munaf did in world cup semis against Pakistan. He was crossing over 140 k when he bowled with effort. Mohammad shami looks like a great prospect now because he can crank upto 145 k. I am counting days before he starts bowling at 130k. It will happen for sure. Umesh is the only guy who looks like bowling at decent pace all his life. Even that i am not 100% sure. I have seen padosis in local clubs, Their first insitnct is to bowl as fast as possible. Nothing else. India can get an express bowler only when every single bowler in India wants to bowl faster and faster. If you pick 100 top bowlers, every single bowler should want to bowl fast and gain speed every year. That is how Padosis bowl. They always love to bowl fast. If everyone tries odds are we will bump into one or two good ones. Same in Australia, SA. Kallis who is supposed to be a medium pacer, when needed can crank up above 140k. There is no exception. Picking one super fast bowler in the team won't get us anywhere. If he breaks down who will do that job. Bhuvaneswar, Shami, pankaj whoever comes in should gain speed significantly every year. You need a large pool for country like India where there will be lot more breakdowns compared to other places. In India genuine quicks have to bowl a lot more over due to flat surfaces. For that happen you need total change in thinking. From guy like Gavaskar who still comes out and spouts nonsense on how line and length is important. To captain Dhoni who is more interested on how to control and restrict other team rather than getting them out. This fricking guy who is captain has no fricking idea on how to manage fast bowlers and how to handle their spells. To the board and selectors who need to give these fast bowlers assurances that they will looked after in case they get injured and encourage them just to bowl fast and nothing else. The fricking bowlers themselves , we had guys like fricking Irfan pathan who inspite of being sent home and kicked out the team was saying he is fine, recently id*iot Ishant who still thinks his bowling is fine even when he is just bowling and trundling @ 120s and feeding buffet bowling to even tail enders. These guys who have speed should be told to bowl as fast as possible and look for wickets it is better end with 10-0-80-3 than none for 60 which is best we could expect from guys like VKs and Ishants. will these things happen no,
King Tendulkar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 agree agree agree agree with everyone. Finally even here some are seeing the light finally Sums it up sunny on recent comm " lets face it we will never have fast bowlers" Basically slamming pacers and glorifying the trundlers
Gunner Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Yadav would've hit 150 if played yesterday. The pitch encouraged bowlers to bowl fast.
gaurav92 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Garage in garbage out. No point in playing bowlers #truestory.
King Tendulkar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 i remember during the 2011 tour to england ' date='pk bowled a ball and the the batsman played it easily as it didn't swing ,sunny was on commentary and said that pk was trying to bowl too quick so he wasn't getting the swing and he should slow down his pace to swing the ball , that ball was bowled at around 125k :cantstop:[/quote'] sunny sums up the disease in thought which prevails through indian cricket culture in reagrds to pace bowling! Sad! This is why we wend up with two bowlers of 80 mph spearheading the tacck with new ball, when we have two bowlers who clock 90 mph! Mind boggles! Only in Indian team does this madness happen. Then we wonder why our bowlers drop down on pace.:hysterical: One bad game and a pacer in India is labelled a liabilty and sprays it. Meanwhile trundler gets smoked and nothing mentioned. If dhobi was skipper would have used steyn with old ball and opened with dumminy in trying to be over smart
CSK Fan Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Yadav would've hit 150 if played yesterday. The pitch encouraged bowlers to bowl fast. Considering the way Yadav is being treated by the think tank, don't be surprised if he too cuts down on pace to please Dhoni
gaurav92 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Yadav should play the remaining two games ahead of Mohit. Clearly Mohit doesn't have the pace to trouble the SAF batsman. Yadav may just have the extra zing that India need on such quick wickets. And its not just the pace, but the lines and lengths that India have bowled. When the pitch offers some bounce, the ideal length is just the back of a length and not short, a trick which Indian bowlers missed. Also the lines weren't good. They bowled short and wide at the start and bowled length balls in the death. Those lengths on these small grounds are asking for trouble. We will have to bowl far better than what we did, in order to compete against this very formidable SAF team. There will be some pace and carry, the point is to use it to our own advantage.
Sidhoni Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Bhuvi has dropped his pace. I remember he was touching 138-140 in the IPL occasionally and everyone was saying he has gained pace since debut but since then he has gone to his 133-135 bracket or even below at times.
asterix Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 If Dhobi's forced to select Yadav and drop his CSK pet bowler Mohit then watch out his body language... He'll show his displeasure and anger right on the field if any mistakes done by Yadav. He'll try to justify why he doesn't selects Yadav and always goes for pet trundlers...
Texan Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Mohit doesn't have natural pace he seems to strain himself to bowl at 134 k' date=' I would pick a fit Pathan over these two any day as he bowls similar pace with better skills and can bat pretty well, [/quote'] Exactly. Mohit seems to be bowling out of his skin to deliver balls at 134k. I can already see this guy bowling slower in a year or so. BK is way more skillful than Mohit. I would pick a fit IK Pathan too. As it stands, Indian bowlers, whichever ones you pick are going to leak runs. It makes sense then to pack the team with all-rounders so that at least the batting is strong.
express bowling Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Not just the speed gun reading, Bhuvi used to get zip off the pitch which troubled batsmen. Now , that zip is somehow missing.
maniac Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Mohit Sharma has lack of skills to compensate his pace, atleast Bhuvan has displayed he can be a thinking bowler and has some amount of skills going for him, where as Mohit Sharma needs to be added to our hall of shame

I have heard the samething being said by commies from other countries. That should not deter an youngster to increase his pace. Having said that you don't try to learn to increase pace in a match situation. You look awkward, unnatural . That is where you will be all over the shop. If you had practiced outside you would have semblance of control even if you try to up your speed. Dale Steyn for instance sometimes operates only at 135 to 140 k. Suddenly in one spell he increases the speed to 145k without losing any of his accuracy. That is the indication of ability. I'll use an example from Car. Let us take two identical cars. one with 6 cyclinder 195 hp, other one with 4 cylinder 150 hp. Both can go at 60 smoothly without much difference, if you crank it up to 70 mph you can see smoothness of 150 hp car taking a hit, as you keep pushing the speed up it gets reall rough with a 4 cylinder, 150 hp car. If i were coach i would ask every Indian fast bowler to read the book ART OF FAST BOWLING by DENNIS LILLEE. Brilliant book. Having the direct services of a guy like Dennis Lille India absolutely had no clue how to use him while Australia is reeling out one quickie after another.

You are underestimating the influence of guys like Sunny if it were limited to just their tv then it would be fine but no they extend lot more. Their thinking and influence goes too far. why you think all Indian bowlers speeds are reduced and give out statements like this from moment they get dropped from the side Will focus on line and length: Umesh Yadav umesh yadav came back from injury in june and did bowl well in patches had his moments but sometimes was expensive. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=economy_rate;orderbyad=reverse;qualmin1=5;qualval1=wickets;spanmin1=05+jun+2013;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling But his overall Economy rate since his come back is better than guys like Broad and Malinga Instead of encouraging this guy Dhobi and his goons dropped him in favor of All time great bowler VK.

express bowling Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 As long as guys are playing unorganized cricket in India, all most of them want to do is to bowl quick. But the moment they start training under any coach, they start to have very measured actions and bowling quick is not an objective any more. The extra effort seems to be missing among most coached bowlers, whether pace or spin. I remember my tennis coach telling me to hit forehands without too much effort. Otherwise the form won't be right. My football coach at a local club told me to play artistically and not make too much body contact while moving forward with the ball. A cricket coach liked my bowling mainly because I did not have much pace and could not injure batsmen. I was fed up.
rixxuu Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 a fast bowler should have the mentality that he is the best and charge every ball. captain is most crucial person for a new fast bowler, shami looked a good prospect. but dhoni should give confidence to his new bowlers, i mean not in the pressconfrences but in matches, he tried his very best to contain but what he got? a target of 350+.now he should first select the right bowling combination(shami,kumar,yadav,ishant/ashwin) and give them full confidence, i m sure the results would be different.

So true Yadav already sending out worrying signs, recent statements of want to focus on line and length blah blah. When he should be saying want to bowl fast and bowl fast with accuracy. This is what dhobi and our trundler culture does. Destorys the confidence and confuses the fast bowler. He should be backed, told to bowl fast and go for wickets! Do that and you will be suprised by results, as not only will the bowler bowl quick , he will know his role and be confident, suddenly the accuracy comes as well.
