So true Yadav already sending out worrying signs, recent statements of want to focus on line and length blah blah. When he should be saying want to bowl fast and bowl fast with accuracy. This is what dhobi and our trundler culture does. Destorys the confidence and confuses the fast bowler. He should be backed, told to bowl fast and go for wickets! Do that and you will be suprised by results, as not only will the bowler bowl quick , he will know his role and be confident, suddenly the accuracy comes as well.

You hit the nail on the head. Most of our quick bowlers are confused about what they should do and end up messing up their actions leading to loss of both pace and accuracy.

We have to go both ways.. expecting good medium pacers to up their speeds and also expecting raw pace bowlers to bowl in good line and length. If you look at guys like Mithun, Pankaj they are reasonably well built to bowl quick. Have you seen Mithun's action. You will literally throw up. There are so many things messed up. Run up, pivot, use of front arm, shoulder effort, follow through.. if you analyze one by one all Indian bowlers suck big time. Ishant is the only who has a reasonably well repetable action. But his shoulder effort is much like spinner, wrist position is even worse. If you add seam position you get a A grade garbage bowler. Much like we pick a raw pacer and try to get his line and length right, pick a line and length bowler and make him bowl fast. Do both. Find out why certain guys don't bowl fast and fix the issues and how to help them gain speed. One reason i started a thread for "bowlers who increased their speed after debut" was for this only. There is this fancy dialogue "Fast bowlers are born not made".. that is false. Lot of bowlers have gained speed.

Yeah i think sreesanth was a better bowler then anyone in current lot until he was jailed for match pixing and who can forget that slap gate scandle that really shattered his confidence :cantstop:

You conveniently forgot to mention the Strike rate of 46 in tests, which is great and makes him a genuine wicket taker. :cantstop: Economy rate is not an important measure in the longer version. A 140 to 150 k pacer ,who is a genuine wicket taker in tests, is always special. Even more so when he is not in jail.

Exactly. Mohit seems to be bowling out of his skin to deliver balls at 134k. I can already see this guy bowling slower in a year or so. BK is way more skillful than Mohit. I would pick a fit IK Pathan too. As it stands, Indian bowlers, whichever ones you pick are going to leak runs. It makes sense then to pack the team with all-rounders so that at least the batting is strong.

A guy who is not stretching and happy bowling with minimum effort will never gain pace.

sreesanth wasn't jailed for betraying our country. It was for a freakin franchise team. Now compare it with your sooper talented asif, ameer, and butt. I am not asking him to bowl short but straight from he can get movement away from the batsmen. He has tendency to drag the ball short unintentionally. For him , straight line is just outside off. he needs to get that line right.
