NareshK Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I dont think we should be too disappointed by this performance to be honest. Most Indian players in this team are inexperienced in overseas conditions and they are bound to falter, just like many of the great players like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kumble etc. did when they played first in foreign conditions. Important thing is to learn from these failures and improve. There is still one ODI, two tests against SA, the NZ series, Eng series to follow. Let's see how they go from here.
BeautifulGame Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I disagree. Creating wrist-slitting threads' date=' when one's team loses, is a common phenomenon amongst the sub continent crowd.[/quote'] Just sub-continent? U should check the Guardian/BBC/telegraph comments section the last few days lol
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Those pitches are diff from these pitches. In fact those pitches were similar to Indian pitches. There were some slightly tough pitches and conditions in the champions trophy like the semi-final/final. We batted and BOWLED well. In the WI tri series and zimbabwe the ball was doing something as well. There weren't only flat pitches. The issue with the SA tour is the bounce and extra pace. We have gifted wickets when we could have survived and played on. Its a discipline thing, not a lack in skill. We should have had a practice match and that's a fact. Unfortunately, we have had to adjust in ODIs and it has cost us a clean sweep of ODI series win. This is still one of the best ODI teams.
Sandeep99 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 SHould have done well at least in the second ODI.. Our players wilted at first sign of pressure. Disgraceful batsmanship!

Wins would come only when we start playing properly. But, the thing where I am disappointed is that there's no application from out batting. Dhawan wants to hit every ball out of the park. Rohit tries but gets out. Biggest disappointment for me till now has been Kohli. I know it's just 2 matches, but we are at a stage where we do expect a lot more from him. He has played a full series in Aus, and an ODI series in England. So, technically he's the seniormost batsman. And I am afraid, even he has not looked too comfortable against the short pitch stuff. He has been caught in wrong positions once or twice, and I think closed his eyes as well. They would get better with time but early indications have been bad. But I am also sure that we would do well.

vamos_rafa Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 And he has already played a full ODI series against SA in SA so he has some experience playing on these tracks Yeah. It's ok if you are lacking in experience. That can be made up with time. but, what we have witnessed is the general lack of aptitude, which is a bit painful to say the least.
deathmonger Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Yaar mai soch raha tha yeh kaun Tendulkar profile pic waala hai jo doosre threads pe Pakistaniyo ko gali de raha tha. Ab dekha ki Sarkar hai. Tab samajh me aaya.
SLICKR392 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 It doesn't matter here alright. Bunch of 7yr olds conspiracy theories and 10,000 of hate threads makes this website feel like an anti-Indian cricket fans. Bore off.
skindia Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 They didn't fight...thats the real tragedy...margin of loss
jusarrived Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 This series will be decided good or bad based on our performance in Tests....
Scarves Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Well duh. India have a young side, they have a lot of growth. Tests on the other hand will be interesting will they fold like they did before in ENG and AUS or fight?
adi B Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 we are not playing like #1 team but certainly have played better than all the other teams throughout the year so defo we deserve to be #1..we have had a dream year but not ending well it seems, hopefully a good show in the tests !!
putrevus Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 This team won the most important away series which mattered the most, sure they would have loved to win this series too. Let us not get disappointed in this young team yet, Captaincy is a big concern though, I don't care what anyone says Dhoni's captaincy has played a very big role in these two losses.

putrevus Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Most of us are not criticizing the team but the captaincy of Dhoni and his biased handling of few players... I am leaning towards inept rather than more serious issue biased. Dhoni needs to realize the only way his fast bowlers are going to get confidence is when this guy lets them work thru their issues it is not one match or one series. On surface Yadav bowling figures look bad but anyone who saw the match can vouch how he arrived at those. But I think it is too late, Dhoni is who he is , I don't think he is going to change , he will same piss poor handler of fast bowlers.
