beetle Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Indian Idol Season 2 winner Sandeep Acharya passed away at the age of 29 at a Gurgaon hospital on Sunday. He was suffering from jaundice. “Yes, Sandeep passed away at Medanta Hospital today. We brought him here on Decemebr 10. Before that, he was admitted to a hospital in Bikaner,” said Akshay, Acharya’s cousin. Born and brought up at Bikaner in Rajasthan, Acharya was the winner of Indian Idol, a reality show on Sony TV, in 2006. Soon after winning the show, Acharya released his first album ‘Mere Saath Saara Jahaan’. “He was supposed to release his new album ‘O Sanam Tere Bina’ mid-December,” Akshay said. Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan, who judged the reality show’s second season with music composers Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam, tweeted: “It's too sad to hear of Sandeep Acharya.... Such a gentle boy he was. Not his time to go.” Sonu also expressed shock. “Jaundice? Gosh...very sad. The boy was just 29... God give his parents some strength,” he said on the social network site. Anchor-actor Mini Mathur, who hosted Indian Idol 2, was taken aback. Her tweet was: “What a sad, premature goodbye to a talented, ambitious, happy boy.” Singer Shreya Ghoshal wished the news about his demise was not untrue. “Just heard about... Sandeep Acharya...Shocked. Too young, and a wonderful guy,” Shreya tweeted. Married last year, Acharya is survived by wife and a child. After the Indian Idol success, Acharya had participated in TV show Jalwa Four 2 Ka 1. Born on February 4, 1984, he was a science graduate and the youngest in the family of two sisters and a brother. Acharya’s last rites will be performed in his hometown Bikaner. Local parliamentarian Arjun Ram Meghwal expressed condolence, saying the music world had lost a bright star. Gopal Joshi, MLA of Bikaner-West, said, “I am shocked to know that Sandeep is no more. urbestfriend Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Shocking ...I dont know much about Jaundice but how can it cause death at this modern age? My grandfather told me once that he had severe jaundice when he was young and he almost died , but cured only by herbal treatment and diet..

nballa Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 i remember having jaundice as a kid, was made to drink some neem concoction by force, it was by far the worst tasting thing ive ever experienced. i can still taste it after 25 yrs it was that bad.

I was just listening to his song the other day on my ipod "mere saath saara jahan" I know fans loved him in India because of which he won the Indian Idol. I remember some contestants were better than him in singing but his simplicity made great impression on the public. R.I.P.

He just got popular. Still cannot forget Karunya's rendering to lai vi na gai song. Karunya was by far the best singer in that season. Still remember a guy named Kazi won Fame Gurukul, another music reality show on Sony just because he became popular and was from J&K. He was barely a good singer. In shows like these, best singers rarely win. Popularity works more. Abhijit Sawant won while Amit Sana was a better singer. R.I.P.
