I am not sure if it is because of 8-0 and the lessons learnt, or Zak making a comeback or more inputs and pro active approach by Coach Fletcher but I have seen a good improvement in Dhoni's batting on fast tracks , captaincy, field placings and approach. It coincides with the comeback of Zak, and Tendulkar's retirement , the signs are good though, only thing now is to look at up coming promising bowlers and not hacks like VK, Mithun, Dhoni and coach [who is called to worked alongside the people at NCA which is a good move], Zak seems to be at the end of his career and max we can have him for the away tours this year and should look at Pankaj, Pandey, Suyal, Shukla, Aaron and Irfan. India's batting has been of the highest order in unfriendly conditions and have not seen batting like this before to be honest, the confidence, planning, leaving the ball at the same time not going into a shell against very good bowling.Bowlers have outbowled SA easily and we have beaten them at their own game and a lot has to do with planning and execution and kudos to the team and management.:two_thumbs_up:

What has Dhoni done till now in this test?? What good field placements are you talking about?? And Dhoni is always pro-active when wickets are tumbling ... Its just when things are down, he goes defensive and inactive.

Anyone captain when things are going well for you....when they are not how a captain steps in and alters the game in his favor is what makes people judge him. I will give him credit for sticking to the basics and not doing any boneheaded moves like bowling himself or Kohli

What was so good with his field placings? When ZAK was bowling, he was setting his fields. And when Philander was batting, easy singles were on the offer on the onside. There was like on guy on the onside and that was at mid-on. He wasn't that proactive. His bowling changes were good but than again that was common sense. When Ishant is given his last warning for running on the pitch, of course you don't bowl him the next over. :dontknow:

Sarcasm and cynicism runs true in most of us but lets be rational , even I am not a big fan of Dhoni's batting and captaincy outside asia but he has improved no doubt on this tour, choosing to bat on that track, having a good game plan, execution, batting well. When India bowled he did have the slips and close in fielders for most part and we were more aggressive in bowling and field settings then Saffers, also his choice of playing Shami, Ishant , Zak has worked for him as Bhuvi would not have had the same effect also he is a bit low in bowling form. Zaheer might have had a big impact and in fact Ishant has stated the same in post match 3 rd day interview last evening, so Zak should be utilized in terms of bowling coach or consultant or NCA as it seems he has a great effect on the bowling and team in general and aggressive fields, hope Dhoni moves forward with this mind set and improves rather then going back to his old ways, credit where it is due:hatsoff:

We had donkey with us who could be attacked Shami and Zack are mentally good..shami even bowls well at death in Odis

we never had bowlers who can keep it tight from the other end from one side we will have ishant keeping it tight while shree or yadav leaked runs from the other end now both shami and ishant are attacking the stumps so batsman cannot score freely which has resulted in wickets and also credit goes to zak for leading our bowlers well so dhoni`s plan finally working
