vijay50 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Yadav will play the first test againt Nz along with oldie ZK/ Pissant.
JourneyMan Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 We had a tough fight against the number 1 test team in the world on their home turf. It took ten days of cricket to get an actual result. If you were going to make this thread, you should have made it after the previous overseas series.
Cricketics Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Contrary to this, It's gong to be a fresh change and probably one of the best period overseas.
SLICKR392 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Contrary to this' date=' It's gong to be a fresh change and probably one of the best period overseas.[/quote'] I second that.
rkt.india Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 If we want to do well overseas, we need to sort our bowling out.
Guest Sacred Heart Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 M. Srinivasan disagrees with you. /thread.
vamos_rafa Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Contrary to this' date=' It's gong to be a fresh change and probably one of the best period overseas.[/quote'] +1.
eternalhope Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 IMO we are going to see our best phase in Test cricket the next five years.
CG Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 With a new captain and guys liek yadav, aaron, shami,bk we can compete overseas.
Tiger80 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 What Dhoni don't have is paarkhi nazar of a captain who can spot talent. He is just a chipku kind of captain who stick with tried and tested failures .Ganguly in his era picked many new player like Bhajji , Yuvi , Zaheer , who did wonder for him What Dhoni has on his side is luck .He is playing in era when other teams barring few are reaching low .
eternalhope Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Not many captains have that talent, but he has some other good qualities. Anyway we have paid selectors in India who should be able to do that, why blame him for that. WE can blame him for not picking the right IX from the squad though. IMO he is not good for the longer versions.
Detonator Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 We won test series in WI and NZL under Dhoni who is a poor captain overseas.Won series in Eng and WI under Dravid. How many test series did we win under Ganguly away from sub continent? Afterall isnt Ganguly our best captain ever? Grave silence :((
jatinder Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 if dhoni continue to back ishant, zaheer , ashwin , Yuvraj and Raina .I am seeing beggining of the second worst period of Indian Cricket Playing Outside India.

The whole team is made up of new players.

Those who are asking how many series Ganguly won out side India, here are the facts, Ganguly has result of 1-1 in Aus and England series and we were the far superior side then Aussie and english in those series, remember him opening with Viru and Akash Chopra ahead of S Ramesh.
NameGoesHere Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 OP, it's amazing how perspectives can vary. I have been tracking Test games since 1978 and watched my first game live in 1982. My opinion is the exact opposite. Except for that tour of England when a young Dravid and Ganguly both came good- and perhaps even including that- I have never been as heartened by the showing of young Indians abroad as on this tour. We now know for sure that Kohli, Pujara and Rahane are the real deal. Plus, VIjay (arguably) deserves a long rope just for his grit, and so does Dhawan for his previous performances. Shami has proved himself, although I would agree that Indian bowling has sucked for a long time. Look at it this way- in the first Test if we could put up just one hardcore bowling performance we could have won it. And we could have drawn the second Test if just one Indian batsman in the second innings ut up a 'usual' superlative performance. So it's not too bad. I put it to you- despite our failings, this has been a heartening tour if only we can build on it.

Aus had both Macgrath and Warne both injured out and were playing with an attack of containing Bracken Macgill Brad williams. How did Ganguly manage in 2004 return series when Macgrath and Warne retutned to the side in India. We had Nehra playing 3 tests in that Aus series despite averaging 100 , Irfan find of the tour averaged 70 . Since everyone keeps on harping about the Ganguly grooming great fast bowlers and achieving results myth this is the record of pace bowlers under Ganguly away from India http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;captain_involve=2024;class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=bowling_average;template=results;type=bowling Zak averages 36+ ,Nehra ave 48 , Agarkar 48 and Irfan Pathan 50. Great captain for grooming fast bowlers. We had two credible wins away from subcontinent (From 21 tests) in his career couldnt even beat WI or NZL or England (who were below ave at that time) in test series. And both test wins were achieved mainly with batting (Scored 550 and 600 in 1st innings) and spin (Played both Bhajji and Kumble in headingly). And we still managed to draw vs NZL and Pak at home.Dont remember whitewashing anyone at home either Ganguly's main achievements were due to the draws he achieved and that were mainly due to the incredible batting line up we had.And we suffered white washes under Dhoni becoz that great lineup were in their last legs. Now we will again strat drawing tests(winning occasional ones) becoz we have again found an excellent batting line up But the harsh truth is our fast bowling sucked under Ganguly and continues to such under Dhoni. Not much different and unless it improves we will struggle overseas. And the only time our fast bowling looked real good was under Dravid.
King Tendulkar Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Contrary to this' date=' It's gong to be a fresh change and probably one of the best period overseas.[/quote'] Well it certainly could be But now we know test team will still have ishant and zak in it , I suddenly not so sure:((
Cricketics Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Well it certainly could be But now we know test team will still have ishant and zak in it , I suddenly not so sure:(( BCCI's biggest technology is Ishant Sharma. Still in developing stage, and soon to be a robot who will eventually pick up lot of wickets, if certain mechanisms get fixed and put correctly. They are still experimenting with the system of Robot Ishant. It's been told BCCI is going to launch it's new version on New Zealand tour, for fans down under. This is how I see it now. Hopefully, the Robot will finally start responding.
