I would call Sangakkara a cricketing great especially after I saw that innings he played in Hobart when he scored 192. Such an amazing knock on a green top. Michael Clarke and Alistair Cook will be up there and ditto Amla.

It takes 12-15 years of cricket to become an ATG though I do not see many of them become ATGs, but ATGs do not come everyday. Though ABDV, Clarke, Cook, Amla may make it. KP is another one.

Sanga is the best batsman since 2000, KP is next best batsman , AB and Amla are next. Hussey was on his way to be an ATG. Sehwag is best opener, dont rate Cook and Clarke that high

In the following order: a) Sangakkara b) Amla c) ABdV d) Clarke e) Pietersen f) Hussey g) Younis Khan h) Sehwag i) Samaraweera j) Cook and Smith I know that Samaraweera and Jayawardene scored heavily at home, and so did Sehwag, but I don't rate Jaya as highly. Sehwag's scoring rate made him formidable and Samaraweera played some very good knocks in recent times.

Gambhir averages 44. He can clearly be a great test player I still feel. I think he has it in him. I expect him to have one last return before he retires. He will retire with a better average which will be close to 50 atleast or beyond.

Which ever way you twist it, Sehwag is an ATG. Flawed yes, but ATG nevertheless. His ruthless triple hundreds, that double against Mendis and co in SL, the hundreds down under, and an average of 50 at 80+ makes him an ATG.

He's one of the very best of his era or maybe one of the best in the last 20 years but not an ATG Test player IMO.
