McDermott is thinking out of his ass if he really believes Australia have the world's best bowling attack. Johnson is an X-factor. Ryan Harris is a damn good bowler. But Siddle is nothing special and there are at least 10 better spinners than Lyon in International Cricket right now. Australians have collectively bowled very well against England but this attack is not as lethal as RSA. The good thing is we will find out in couple of months when Australia tours RSA

that Siddle looked average to you shows how good this Australian bowling attack is. SA bowling doing well against Aus batting will be more due to the poor Australian batting. I think Aus need to bring back hughes. he screw the SA attack some years back

SA have a versatile attack in Steyn, Morkel and Vernon combo. Aus has more of a volatile attack in Johnson, Siddle, Harris & Pattinson.

Sa seamers can reverse it, aussie bowlers rarely reverse the ball, sa seamers swing the ball more aus pacers mostly bang it in. Sa definitely stronger. both sets of spinners are average.

Would also add Sayers, Hazlewood, etc to the list. As for SA, Abbott deserves a mention as well as someone whose name begins with 'G' and has a FC avg of less than 20.

On turners, Australia have the advantage due to Lyon factor. On seaming or bouncing wickets, South Africa has a clear advantage. On roads, Australia has the advantage over South Africa due to Watson the 5th bowler and Kallis being retired.

Lyon is far more than average. Probably one of the most underrated spinners around. He's been dropped or asked to play overly negative roles many a time, and yet he has very decent stats.

#1 has not prove himself completely even in FC. This was his first good season. Agree that 2 and 3 can do a decent-good job. #4 hasn't even played a FC match yet. Plenty of spin bowlers - Iqbal Abdulla, Chawla, etc - were superstars in U19 and fizzled out later.

Aaron is a proven talent in FC matches and few ODIs he has played. You need a courageous and bold captain to test bowling talents like these, unfortunately, at present our cricket captain is very defensive.

Agreed. Though Ive ben wanting to see him in action for so long :(. Bloke looked so promising on his debut, especially THAT delivery to Kallis.

Topley reminds me a bit of Cummins, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a go in the Lions' squads.
