Lyon is better than Robbie P or Tahir by far, even if the diff in avg between Robbie and Lyon is not that high. One could also add: Smith vs Warner/Rogers (your pick)

Just look at recent series, Australia's top order is very very fragile and I doubt RSA bowlers will be very generous to Australia's lower order. If I remember correctly, Australia have never lost a series in RSA since RSA's re-admission in international cricket. Based on current forms and depths, I'd say RSA would be marginal favorites but X-factors Steyn and Johnson can turn the games around very quickly. Also, England is the only team with a series-win in RSA. They won 2-1 in 2004-05. aus won 2-1 2009,3-0 in 2006 in saf..with regards to least home series defeats aus,india and windies dominate.. windies were unbeaten both home and away for 15 years,india just lost 2 home series for 2 decades IIRC from late 80s till 2012 :omg: ,aus were unbeaten at home from mid 90s till 2008 ,now these are called fortress

veer Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 One problem with Aus is that, besides Clarke, their players like to play attacking cricket.. they are not like Pujara/Rahane/Amla/Faf who could play lot of dot balls before making few runs... Plus, SA won't let Ozzie tail survive to rescue them from bowling out cheaply..

This is declining Australia team.They're one knee injury away (Harris) from having an average bowling attack. Will be 3-0 to South Africa. Australia is heading the same way as West Indies. Great team in past but know on it's last legs. Their best batsmen Brad Haddin is 36, their next best Michael Clarke is 33 and has a bad back. You can tell this was the last great performance winning this ashes by this Australian team. Before that they couldn't win in 9 tests. They will be blown away by SA and in a few years will be struggling to beat the likes of Bangladesh away from home. The top two teams will be England and SA. Australia has been caught out with the steroid abuse by their athletes, that probably explains the decline in Aussie sport since the late 90's early 2000's.

Australia ended up depending on the heroics of Haddin the batsman who had the best avg and second highest runs from both sides in the just concluded Ashes. Therein lies the difference between the sides, other than some inspired performances its SA all the way.
