CG Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 There is no harm in trying things. He does bat in lower order but he does not bat as a lower order batsman or a tailender usually bats. There no dearth of batting talent in india that we try ashiwn as an opener.Opening is no joke and he averages 13-14 in odis .He has to do more consistently then we can even think of getting him top no 6.
rkt.india Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Runs from him are a bonus. Would much rather see him work on his bowling and become an attacking spinner rather than one content with a 50-55/1 kind of spells he's been bowling in ODIs. what's wrong in playing as an alrounder?

Opening is far fetched. His record in ODI isn't as good as in tests because he doesn't get enough chances to bat.

ODI and tests, cricketing basics is the key. bowling allrounders do not match batsman in ODI either. its the specialist batsmen who reach 30's much more often

He first showed in CLT20 against RR.

I had the same impression , but watching him bat in this series looks like hes worked on his big hitting. I opened a thread on him and Rohit swapping places . Any takers now ?

If you see record overseas its crap and 3rd odi he changed his action. His right arm at jump is coming from below the shoulder he used to bowl above the shoulder dont know what he is doing.
