Except for '92 they never had the depth in the side to lift the cup. England have been a mediocre ODI side for most of history. SA are chokers.

Except for '92, NZ never had the team to win a WC. In that sense I would say they have shown tremendous mental toughness to even reach so many SFs. Only SA have had a good enough team for the mental factor to come into play.

When you reach semis 6 times and not make even a single final I would suspect mental toughness does come into play.

No it is not. To go all the way and win a World Cup requires a certain X-factor. Some exceptional performance like Richards, Akram, Warne etc. NZ have never had players of that class supported by a strong team. Have had one or the other.

They can draft in Harris only for the ODIs, and have MJ and Clint McKay (ODI specialist) forming a fine trio. Then, there's Watto who is superb in ODIs and utility players like Faulkner and Maxwell. They will bat till 9 and go with 6 bowlers too.
