puneet28
He was after the team as well. Have you been reading? but he is only after Fletcher these days. Sacking Fletcher only can't do any magic. You need change in whole setup. I would like some ex players to be part of big authorities in BCCI. Need to kick politicians and businessmen out of it. Its high time that Senior Players should step in. Link to comment

Keeping him didn't do any magic either. Atleast that is proven. Sacking him will help or not.. that is yet to be proven. Link to comment
G_B_
@Austin no they were not. they sucked and quite frankly should have been axed much earlier. the real question is. What do Indian fans want the coach to be? Does he focus on technical skills. Ie technique attitude etc. Work on flaws? Does he focus on man management. IE how does he shuffle the deck without hurting egos? Does he focus on tactics which probably means taking a healthy interest in selections of the players he wants. IMO India might be better off in the long term if there is a technical support staff for fielding batting, (2 pace bowling coaches) and 1 spin bowling coach. Let MSD continue as captain. Lets keep in mind our only major overseas test victory was in 2007 v England without a coach. I feel India need to have specialist technical coaches for the remaining the of the MSD captaincy tenure. G_B_
and keeping this in mind, In the English premier league the manager basically focuses on tactics. Its the coaches underneath him to run through fitness drills and technical aspects of the game. Having read through the biography of Sir Alex Ferguson and even Clive Woodward (rugby world cup winning coach). All these guys did was plan tactics. Their coaches did the technical stuff and the assistant manager was the man manager in terms of egos. Link to comment
Austin 3:!6
In terms of coach, I want to see Ganguly more than Dravid. Personally, I am not a big Dada fan but we must accept he was a courageous leader. He might play a big role inspiring this team specially how to play overseas. Dravid is a massive cricketer and all players respect him. But there is something in Ganguly whose advise young players take very seriously. Just heard, Raina is motivated after talking to Ganguly and rearing to go in T'20 WC. No one can inspire cricketers like Ganguly. Link to comment

Many players sucked during that time (2011 - 13 era). Sehwag and Gambhir got the boot due to be on the wrong side of the age and due to various conflicts with skipper. Link to comment

No one can inspire cricketers like Ganguly. They have different skills set. Dravid is a technical encyclopedia on batting. Ganguly is a man manager and tactician. Again the real question we should be asking is, who will suit Dhoni the most? A technical guy like Dravid or a tactician like Ganguly? IMO Ganguly is better suited for a young captain like Kohli. Dravid is better suited for an established captain like Dhoni. More than anything, i would like to see Kumble become the coach. Kumble for me had the tactical awareness, has the gravitas and crucially can get the best out of our spinners. While India dont have world class spinners. We go have spinners who can become much better. Its time we focus on our relative strength in bowling, which is spin bowling. Link to comment

beetle
Gavaskar is so full of poison these days. It needs to be said but the words used are unbecoming of a cricketer of Gavaskar's stature. Going through man-o-pause ???? Link to comment

Going through man-o-pause ???? Or maybe he is tired of turning up and watching an abysmal India performance. As fans we just have to switch off the TV and watch something else in this age of the internet. He is stuck there watching inept performance after another. Its been dire from India overseas. The asia cup might be a line too far. I am sure the other countries commentators must be rubbing in it. Link to comment

Going through man-o-pause ???? Sunny is always harsh when he decides. Nothing new. "Champion whingers" he labelled ENglish cricketers. Then he made a bad remark about David Hookes death. When he gets pissed off really, he launches no holds barred attack. Link to comment

He batted for hours to almost won a test match at the oval. He has more right than any of us to take pot shots at these "fairly numb to losses" team management. Link to comment

Any of the top 8 would have parted ways with him. Even this Joe Dawes. A poor Indian bowling line up has got worse under him. I think we need to go back to an Indian coaching set up. Get a feeling that the likes of Shami Umesh Bhuvi etc just dont have that good a hold on the english language to understand what the worlds best foreign coach has to say. Dare i say get a pakistani pace bowling coach like Waqur who can speak to them in a language they understand. Link to comment

It is ok to talk about his coaching stint which stinks but going about how he wasn't much as a player and all is below the belt. Should have some control. Infact such personal attack takes away from the real issue of his coaching stint.Gavaskar is too big a player and he should be above such personal attack. Link to comment

GolGappe
I am kind of glad India sucked in Asia cup because doing well in Asia cup would have totally ease the pressure on team management specially fat kaddu. He should have been fired after India got blanked in Australia. Link to comment
