Kohli needs substantial support

If Kohli decides one day that he can't be bothered to try anymore ,we're in serious trouble.

Manoj Tiwary needs one more look. He didn't do that bad
He looked decent and I'm surprised we've not seen more of him. Poor selection decisions.

Rohit said he was at the top of his game after that "all you can eat buffet" series against Australia. If this is his peak what is his valley?
Followed it with 2 back to back 100's on test debut....scored a half century in tough nzl conditions when everyone else failed.....was notout in the last test innings....give him a break dude....lot of issues in Indian cricket and Rohit is pretty low on the totem pole right now. Will revisit my opinion on him after England series....till now he has been mediocre among some poor performances around him,on a bell curve,he deserves his chances

Its important we get pujara settled and opening the batting. Lets see if he can rotate the strike. The running won't be as good but as long as its sufficient and gets the score ticking i have no problem. Secondly, tiwary should have had his run by now. The guy is a really good bat, brilliant fielder and can bowl a bit! Poor selection indeed. He's another play like rahane; benched for so long but better than a few in the side. His spot should have been at 5 - perfect for him! Now we may never know :( I would also draft in uthappa. Maybe we can get uthappa to open?! Uthappa with dhawan or pujara with dhawan with uthappa at 4. Dont think rohit is set up for wc 2015, he won't last long there. So playing 11 could be: Dhawan, pujara, kohli, uthappa Or Dhawan, uthappa, kohli, pujara, rayudu/tiwary

He is too slow. No technique. Sitting duck on short balls even as worse as Raina. He played those matches in India.

Some good points made there which i totally agree with. The form of our new look players is not as good as that of our past players. Likes of Sehwag, Gauti,Sachin,VVS, Rahul stayed in form for years and years. The form of most of these new look players seem to last for an year and then it starts to go South.
It happens to everyone. No one stays in form all the time. VVS was never a good ODI bat. GG took 4-5 years to establish himself in the team in 2008 and then could only last till 2011 even then it was not like he was scoring all the time. SRT and Dravid also had their lean patches.

Rohit is sitting duck against straight balls :cantstop: Everyone is sitting against something or the other except Kohli. We still pick them. We cannot totally ignore him based on "short balls execution".

Ambatti Rayudu has a good average so far but a pretty pathetiic strike rate but with Yuvi so out of form he seems to be the only option at number 4. Need to try out some new guys like Kedhar Jhadav but Dhoni has his logic of a player having 100 games under his belt before playing the world cup.

We ignored Raina for that. Manoj Tiwary has no feet movement, worse than Rohit. He has a good temperament though. I would take a Pujara over him. In middle overs or opening in Australia and England, we will need a batsman like him.

Lottery man like Rohit gets gazillion chances. Even now he is way too inconsistent. 104*, 21, 65 these are his last 3 scores. What sort of message you send to others if this guy never gets a run after that.

Raina should be there at 6 for slog overs, Dhoni at 5, and we can utilize Ashwin up the order if needed, holding Raina back. Pujara/Rahane and Dhawan opening. Kohli at 3, Rohit at 4.

He might or might not succeed but those 3 innings does not tell about how will he do overseas. I will take Rayudu over him. Rayudu can at least hit big shots if required, he cannot and has better technique. Rahane can only open.

This is why I am so glad that Sachin, Dravid lingered to help Kohli and Pujara. They guided them from the other side and made them confident internationally. Kohli has such a burden on his young head already. Imagine if he had this from day 1. There is no way he would have been as successful Let's see what pressure does to Kohli now. The expectations will be sky high. Soon, like Sachin, he will be measured against his failures and not success. Like with Laxman, Dravid, we always used to remember their best knocks. But with Sachin, people only remembered when he failed. Because of how consistent Kohli is, soon this will be the case with him too. People will only point out things like, he failed in finals, he failed when setting scores, he failed to cross the line, etc

That was in Srilanka pallikele where Rohit sharma made less than number of wides for the series. Rayudu is a total hack. NOt sure what you see in him.

Pujara :dontknow: If pujara has better List A record than Rahane, rohit, and rayudu, why not give him chance? Otherwise what is the meaning of domestic cricket?
agree. The excuse that he doesnt have big shots is bogus. We have enough big hitter already.need a solid batsman to bat through the innings

Rayudu and Tiwary both are similar both hacks but Rayudu can play big shots. Regarding bad SL tour for Rohit, anyone can have bad series. Inzmam scored 18 runs in WC 2003 does not mean he was a bad player. Still, Rohit needs to improve a lot and if we had better options, we would not have seen Rohit in ODIs who is average as best. Tiwary and Rayudu are even worse.

Rohit looks clueless at top sometimes. No confidence at all in his body language. Raina, rohit, kohli, dhoni, Jadeja are all good power hitters. What we lack is someone who can consistently rotate strike and get us past first ten overs without giving up his wicket, but at the same time having posted more than 50-60 runs with partner. Missing sachin :((
