What made you pro/anti Modi?

I'm militantly anti congress and before the SRCC speech I was fairly ambivalent about BJP's choice for PM candidature. But during that speech he alluded to the idea of value chains: trying to grow the domestic value chains while extracting the maximum amount possible from global value chains. It is a fairly rudimentary economic concept but the way he presented it showed me that he understands the basic problem better than any other Indian politician since 47. And since he is the exact opposite of Goonga singh when it comes to decision making and leadership, in my mind he was/is the best candidate in the field.

I am fundamentally anti-BJP because i do not like parties that mix religion and politics, particularly supremacy of the majority religion (thats how you slide towards Nazis and Fascists). But ever since I heard the same speech, i am pro-Modi because he fits the minimum requirements to support my anti-incumbency policy in Indian politics. My fundamental concern with Indian politics is the tendency to establish incumbency in our political landscape, coupled with a large portion of illiterate populace is a sure-fire way to perpetuate corruption. Until our society gets far more educated and wealthy enough to care about political process, we have no way of incumbents establishing power in corrupt ways and the only way to keep a lid on the corruption is to have frequent government changes so no side establishes a completely functional corruption apparatus. As it stands, i think Modi is a competent choice to end the congress incumbency.

Very important question. I think my views have changed so dramatically in last 5 years or so. Primarily, my awareness of Gujarat riots. SIT observations. Constant media propaganda against this man through the decade. It does make one wonder why. And finally my stay in Gujarat and what I was able to see there in both urban and rural regions.

Long time BJP supporter :proud: BJP doesnt have very strong leadeship at top and which createded lethary in grassroot workers. So needed a guy who can lift entire party bu force,even at the cost of ruffling few old feathers. Modi fits the bill perfectly.

I'm anti Modi. Biggest reasons are his dictatorial tendencies and his role in the Gujarat Riots. I also think that the radical elements within BJP/RSS will get a major boost if he becomes the PM - that will not be good for India.

I have always been big fan of people who have risen towards top from a very humble background. Still Modi was never even my Top 5 favourite contestant for the top most post. He was just a good CM then I heard about TATA's Singur plant episode. I was impressed with the way he had that zeal towards his state. I only wished that my CM would have taken such initiative. Then I heard him in the India today conclave, first time I heard any Indian politican talking about resource utilization, About Skill development. Unlike others who say I will do this, do that, he was saying I have done this and I will implement the same in India. His methods or models can be debatable but this guy has done things and then saying how to do this? Only politician who never talked about Hindu Muslims etc. Never talked about giving subsidy, giving anything free, never ever talked about giving reservations. Very Unindian kind of politician.

I am not against Modi, but the system by both BJP and CON is very corrupt, even Modi wanted to do something he cannot go against their own system. So i am forced to change my stand on him by him.

Same here,plus I would also like to add one thing is guys bringing gujrat riots forgets that he asked for help from three state govts where congress was at power Mp,rajasthan and one more state I am forgetting the name,but none come forward to help,whatever happened was unfortunate,but the guy has been grilled for 10 years and yet has stood firm. sent from dil se

I am not anti-Modi, in fact I am happy that someone outside the Delhi's power circle have been chosen as PM candidate..Its about the time. Modi is the best bet BJP could have projected. But I absolutely detest right wing loonies taking over social media which has become unbearable after Modi has been projected as PM candidate. It is like there is a mob there out to get whoever criticizes/opposes BJP or Modi, gloating wild conspiracy theories, feeling victimized for no apparent reason, targeting people for their views, using lies as propaganda tool.. I also believe that however well intended Modi may be, one cannot expect a better thing from corrupt members and BJP is no better than Cong in terms of quality of candidates they have chosen. I am of the belief that without fighting corruption head on, no holistic development is possible.

i am pro bjp/modi.i have always been a bjp supporter(off course i disagree but some of their stands) but this election calls for a definite change in the power.the upa has to go for a god 5-10 years at least subjecting mainly to policy paralysis and corruption. modi is the best bet for bjp and the guy has a huge mass following.i am impressed that his main focus/agenda revolves around "development of india as a whole" rather than the same old ghisa pita politics of caste,religion,secularism etc. india needs a strong leader with a vision at the centre to drive forward our economy and state affairs.i think he deserves a chance but his performance will decide his/party's fate in the course of next 5 years

I absolutely hate the congress. I would love to see an alternate to congress as one of the major national parties, and my support to the AAP stems primarily from this desire. I support Modi, but have been disappointed with the BJP for several reasons, like not being a really effective opposition in the last two terms, them fielding questionable candidates, unnecessary internal bickerings, the belligerance of a section of their supporters, etc. However I do hope they get a chance to run the country because they are the best option out there by a country mile.

I hate congis with a passion.. they and their divide-n-rule communal political are a bane to India... I had high hopes of AAP as an alternative.. but thats been smashed to ground after seeing kejriwals nautanki.. he is just a congi election mastermind... Hence iam leaning towards Modi..

I didn't have good impression of him till around 2010. Around that time one day I was discussing with my brother that who is gonna take NDA/BJP forward, Advani seems done and dusted, Swaraj/Jaitely although good leaders but impactless. It looks very bleak for them now. He told me that only hope for BJP now is Narendra Modi, even in 2009 response of the people to him was great although he didn't really campaign much outside Gujarat. Then I started following him a bit. He came across as a good orator, who studies his audience and speaks accordingly. Quite of few of his speeches were the defining, one at some business summit and one at SRCC. All these coincided with misgovernance, scams after scams and Rahul baba. That left me with no option but to be pro-Modi.

I am anti-Congress to begin with as they are largely responsible for all the major problems in India, be it corruption, reservation, lack of infrastructure, poverty etc. In short they are a curse to India. I admired BJP of the 90s with AB Vajpayee as their top dog. Unfortunately the present BJP is a shadow of its past, but due to the lack of better alternatives at the national level, I still support it. I was initially skeptical about Modi but my opinion about him has evolved after seeing his performance in Gujarat. I am rooting for a man with humble beginnings, a man with ingeniously Indian ideas, who instills confidence in the Indian populace that we too can have strong leaders to look up to. This comes as a welcome change after having a spineless PM for 10 years. Also, I shudder at the fact that Rahul baba, the Sarah Palin of Indian politics can be India's PM one day. 2002 riots is a non-issue for me, as I believe Congress has openly abetted far worse riots in 1984 and has "failed" to control hundreds of other riots over the 6 plus decades that they have ruled India. The chief instigator of 1984 anti Sikh riots was awarded with Bharat Ratna and elected as the PM with the largest mandate ever in Indian history! So in the absence of any "clean" options, I support the lesser of the 2 evils -- Modi and BJP in that order.
