Pace is definitely quicker....though not to its former glory. Tyagi, Naman, Mavi are quickest. Edited August 25, 2025 by singhvivek141
tapandrun Posted August 25, 2025 Posted August 25, 2025 Was watching Dplt20 highlight a commentator sounded like (sehwag-90% it was him) and was suggesting bowler to slow down and look for variations. Is there any other cricketing system which discourages fasting bowling like this??? rollingstoned, express bowling, tweaker and 1 other 4

The minutes a fast bowler get hit for six...they will use some jargons to demean pace by saying fast bowls are sent to boundary faster. While when trundlers are bashed for 50 plus runs in 4 overs...they will appreciate batters. tapandrun, Suhaan, Manucrick and 4 others 1 6

Wasnt he advocating Umran to cut on his pace and focus more on line and length. I knew people will quote that ,he didn't have proper choice of words to convey what he meant He was only suggesting wayward pace is of no use if you don't bowl at proper line(and length) It was that point of time when Umran did struggle with his length and going for lots of runs(people don't comment on people who ask a youngster to bowl a certain way when he was already bowling well with his normal lengths),Shami was just calling that out Even I out of joke said he was jealous of Umran pace (as we all do in an IPL thread) Rahanes sample size is small but whatever little opportunity he had he showed he doesn't hate pace that much as other paindus do,he used Umesh well in Dharamsshala and did well with aggressive field settings and as ked our bench pace attack to follow it thoroughly as a stand in captain during famous BGT 20-21 Aus Edited August 26, 2025 by Suhaan express bowling 1

Likes of Agarkar, GG, Saurav, Dravid used to talk highly about pacers...they all went back. Shastriji supported quicks in Tests...but relied on trundlers in White ball.

tapandrun Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Yes thats how Ind churns-up short trundler one after another, they are redefining fast bowling. There is no concept of fast bowling. Captains needs false sense of control which works in bilateral odis vs an equally matched side or lower positioned sides Bhuvi was pinnacle of that no need to bowl fast but to control the line and length theory bowler and only thing that can 1-up him was if he can bat properly. And bhuvi too was only really good top of the game when he added few kmphs to his pace. express bowling 1

Ind had the resources but chose to invest in low potential pacers and that thing is still continuing. Just go through what happened since Ishant retired, then Umesh retired and shami is semi retired now, who they have added or tried to develop ??? Check the list of pacers who have been making into A side tours and Emerging cups. Its all same RA/LA nothing bowlers who they invest for couple of years but they are no good to so repeat same thing with another bowler.-- Mukesh kumar, Avesh, Unadkat etc where are they now, why they are not graduating into full strength 11 ?? Ind had Sen, Simar, etc who had some potential and if nothing they were tall and quick basic building block for a good fast bowler. Even in T20is (in big events) you need proper fast bowlers with white-ball skills, how many specialist t20 bowlers last 2 years ??? Answer is none if they can not bat they become unreliable after sometime and most of them fade away. express bowling 1

Now a days Mukesh was 31, Unadkut 2.0 31, Akashdeep 27, Siraj 26/27, Prasidh 27 Kamboj and Harshit were the ones who were under 25. if we bring these RA/LA bowlers at age of 27-30...they will take atleast 1-2 years to develop...they will be 30 and then after couple of years they'll start to decline. Sen is now 28, Yudhvir 27, Gurnoor 25, Tyagi 24-25, Simarjeet 27-28. Where is the time for these pacers.

Age is nt. a problem, the issue is even when they are 30 they look like have no skill or are not fully developed. Look at ryan haris he was stop gap, even boland they donot look like that they still are underdevelopment product, after playing some many domestic seasons one should be plug and play state for itnl level. Bcci policies have changed and the game has changed, bcci are trying to stop the age frauds by reducing the importance to U19, previously if some1 played u19 wc and had good SF or F then with in 1-2 seasons of domestic they were promoted to intnl cricket, not anymore. Sen should have played more intnl cricket, Yudhvir and Simar should have already played couple of home t20i series to test them out. Gurnoor should have been on those A sides and Emerging cups. Can not say much about Tyagi he is injured most of time hardly plays any domestic and changes his action every season. There is an icc event every 8 month now so developing a player for 4 years is now somewhat out of window so there is a place for players in 30s or late 20s but they have to be up there on the top of the game. Else there is no point to try to develop a player in 30s when it takes to years for him to gauge their own game and then suddenly starting to fade because of obvious reasons Edited August 26, 2025 by tapandrun
