He was bowling fast 140+kmph in T20I

Even Bhuvi and Arshdeep have bowled 140+ in T20s. It's not a big deal

I really hope BCCI has identified all the genuinely quick bowlers in our system and is monitoring their bowling workloads in the nets, state games etc.

Overbowling them, especially in the nets, is a sureshot way of ruining them.

Pace is visible. If anyone wants to see pace, watch first two overs of Mayank Yadav against Punjab. That's some serious pace. Don't need speed guns to say that he bowled quick.

Any videos available ?

I would add to this and say that pace should be visible.

If a pacer " looks quick " that should be good enough as the main purpose of pace is to hurry batters and intimidate them.

Someone clocking 137 k to 143 k.and looking very quick is better than someone clocking 145 k to 150 k and looking innocuous.

Shri Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to lead the "pace" attack vs Australia in T20's.

All the Mayank's, Tyagi's & Umran's will be shown middle finger.

:finger:

These Bhuvi, Mukesh, Harshal, Avesh, Arshdeep, etc are fine and possibly even necessary if we are only looking to rotate for jamodis and bilaterals but it is likely if they perform well then they will be in reckoning for selection even during important overseas test tours and ICC tournaments knowing our selectors and their inability to distinguish between formats and series. After all they picked Rahane for a wtc final because of his Ipl form.

One thing selectors can do now is try by rotation Mayank Y, Prasidh, Harshit, Tyagi, Sen and Umran in Jamodis and Jamt20s.

Mayank Y, Prasidh and Harshit, being more accurate, can play more.

Actually, it shouldn't be. Why we should promote mediocrity even for jamodis ?

There are almost 8-10 high potential quicks apart from Bumrah, Shami, Siraj which we discuss it regularly....even after those 8-10 quicks we have guys like Akashdeep, Salam, Kaverappa, Porel who are decent bowlers.

Mukesh, Mavi, Harshal, Unadkut, Chetan, Nagwaswallah etc simply don't have that quality...Arshdeep is the only one who has some utility.

I don't disagree with you but am saying this from a realistic pov. Personally if we are going to follow the England template and have 7-8 bowlers to pick from at any time then the ones above I have mentioned should be able to bat at least at the level of Woakes and Willey.

Mukesh, Arsh & Avesh are (0-5 runs )with bat

Bhuvi is like Kuldeep...good for 5-10 runs

Harshal, Mavi are slightly better batter...almost like Shardul (15-20 runs). Mavi though is an amazing fielder..probably best amongst any bowler.

Woakes or Willey level bat amongst trundlers is Deepak Chahar.

Mukesh, Old Bhuvi, Harshal, Shardul, Chahar, Mavi, Sakaria, Nagaswala  are the worst type of pacers for international cricket.

They lack all among pace, bounce and height.

Yet, they are often seen playing together.

Bumrah

Siraj

Shami

Prasidh

Mayank Y

Sen

Harshit

Arshdeep only for T20Is

Umran

This could be the pecking order with one Unadkat type pacer in ODIs if all 3 among Bumrah, Siraj and Shami are rested.

The English template is pretty poor as far as bowling is concerned.

They bring in too many pacers in the mix, sometimes even 25 at the same time. And this shows lack of talent spotting ability.

The result is that they have never been an all condition team in tests and ODIs.

We can look for batting ability among proper pacers.and choose our No.8

Like Harshit, Hangargekar and Gurnoor

Yea i prefer the Aussie template myself. I suppose finding spinners and trundlers who can necessarily bat is a first order effect of their domestic conditions where often top and middle orders can get out when the ball is new and runs scored by tail and LO make a big difference.

Someone looking quick is subjective and vague and not objective.  Under majority of the circumstances, release speed is a good proxy for ‘quickness’ or bowling velocity.

Now you can combine that with other factors like bounce, seam position, ability to extract movement, death bowling skills etc.

My point is keep those other factors separate. Instead of clubbing them all as being visibly quick. If a bowler who bowls 145-150 is looking innocuous, then, under most circumstances, you’ve got problems in the way they are being utilized.

If a bowler is average height, his lengths need to be altered appropriately. More preference to getting those Yorkers right. If a bowler can extract bounce, set your plans accordingly. And then these will not look innocuous.
