Kuldeep picks 3 wickets on a flat track.

Our 2 celebrated finger spinners manage just 1 wicket together. Hope they do better in the 2nd innings, when more help is on offer.

It is really sad, myopic and defensive that we keep dropping Kuldeep to get some batting at No.9.  If we can't win with 8 batting options then we deserve to lose.

It is a sad state of affairs really. A completely short sighted view where we are just looking to collect some wins by hook or by crook rather than building a unit which can be a winning combination across conditons.

A team that is desperate for some runs from a 9 in Test Cricket, shows how rotten it's batting is.

I am disappointed that even a good test cricketer like Dravid doesn't understand this.

I doubt it. maybe jaddu or someone else will play in place of coomer

If Kaddu is fit....then it's a different ball game.

I am assuming he won't get fit before 4th Test.

we should play 4 good bowlers + 1 AR. on SC, it so happens that kuldeep is fine at no. 9.

issue is overseas, where we lack batting depth or bowling depth, but not both at the same time

Ass-win showing his true colors when raging turners are not there... Making an "ass" of himself, and allowing eng to "win". truly an "asswin"

In SC

7. Jaddu

8. Ashwin

9. Kuldeep

10 Shami-Siraj

11. Bumrah

Sundar and Sourabh can start replacing Jadeja and Ashwin for transition now.

Axar in this format is a quack. His batting is not good for a batter and unless it is a raging turner where Root can take 6 wickets for 8 runs, he is not going to be an effective bowler.

in SC, we should not play shami any more since he is old. and siraj is too inconsistent. need to look for a fast, skiddy bowler who can bowl some reverse. umran could have evolved that way, but regressed badly.

and ass-win should be dumped asap. we should get someone new into the team. a proper wicket taker: suthar maybe, or rahul chahar.

Missed today's cricket bro.

How did Bumrah bowl ?  Going through Cricbuzz commentary it seems like he was reversing the ball both at 135 to 143 k.

Did he try some surprise bouncers ?

Picking 6 wickets so cheaply, on this flat track, is really commendable.

His first 4 overs were ordinary and Crawley took him to task. Came back later and bowled one of the best spells ever . Got Root caught at slip after setting him up. Got Pope bowled with a peach of a yorker at 141. Then came back after tea to get rid of Bairstow who was scoring rapidly. Got a well set Stokes with a lovely delivery from round the wicket which seamed off the pitch. Hartley and Anderson were bonus wickets. Really shone when everybody else sucked barring Kuldeep.

Didnt need to bounce the batters much as he was getting the job done with yorkers and lateral movement both ways.

Bumrah is great but others especially Ashwin need to step up. This series is going to be hard to win.

Unpopular opinion: Umesh Yadav still has enough juice in him to outbowl Siraj in India.

This is what I was thinking. Siraj is too rhythm dependent. Good bowler no doubt.

Umesh's performances in India have been stellar. Didnt have a good outing against the Aussies and has since fallen out of favour. Deserves a go atleast in a test ot two.

Kuch bh nai dekha,what happened?

Even didn't follow it in news

Don't want to no about others just tell how Bumrah did it

And was Mukesha able to give him an inch of support?

Ashwin did he do something or just faked again on a belter?

In SC we can afford 2 ARs at 7 and 8, because we have lots of low average finger spinners who can do well on rank turners and can bat too.

I want Kuldeep at 9.

And we must develop atleast 2 skiddy quick pacers who are good at reverse swing .. one to partner Bumrah and another as his backup.

Outside Asia Tests ....

7. Jadeja / Backup spin AR

8. Harshit Rana / Pacer who can bat

9. Bumrah

10. Siraj / Kuldeep Y ( based on pitch )

11. Tall, bouncy pacer

Bumrah was exceptional

Mukesh did jackshit...he was leaking runs worse than Siraj, worst of all

Ashwin was bang average

I am now officially worried about Paras Mhambrey,

For some reason, all our bowlers (specially) the young ones are declining under his coaching and guidance.

Umran, Prasidh, Siraj, Mukesh, Avesh all of them are actually doing a lot worse than what they used to do earlier. Siraj is struggling for months and has got no guidance so far, Arshdeep is the only one who improved a bit but that's because he played county and gained some crucial experience there...Bumrah ,Shami are anyway intelligent enough to work on themselves.

If this trend continues, we will again be in a position where all of our young fast bowlers will get confused and perform poorly due to the directionless coaching of Mr. Mhambrey. It's becoming a really serious issue and unfortunately BCCI is doing nothing to look at this matter, one injury to Bumrah before T20WC and everything will collapse like a pack of cards.

Watch the highlights. That ball to Pope was a delight.

Mukesh and Ashwin were extremely disappointing. Barely an over went by without Mukesh being smacked to the boundary. Ashwin did create some chances but was taken to the cleaners by Crawley and Stokes. Kuldeep bowled well but dished up a few long hops every once in a while. Without Bumrah we would be in a soup already.

BCCI job postings are so like Karan Johar movie castings... Sab apno ko daalo :hysterical:

don't forget that our spinners are regressing too, barring kuldeep to an extent. look at how asswin, jaddu, or faxar are doing

I don't think it is unpopular. old man shami and umesh can outbowl siraj.

yes it is possible but Mukesh Kumar getting picked ahead of SIRAJ is unimaginable.

is Mukesh better than UMesh Yadav- umesh in India has been an excellent pacer.

your point is correct but I am scared that keeping Ambrey as a fast bowling coach can harm us big time- in trying to get control ,he has made avesh a under 135K trundler ,

umraan's career is finished, bhuvi is gone, Prasidh is failing.........SIRAJ who is as good as Shammi and BOOM is under performing.

if I am agarkar I would change him with immediate affect and get a genuine fast bowling coach not a fake.
