Cummins was v.quick when he made his debut and even after injury he did nt lose much pace. All 3 Aus pacers have cut down their pace for longevity and work load.

This is the longest serving trio of fast bowlers of Aus cricket.

Cummins and then there was another bowler (forgetting his name) were both v.qucik able to hit 150 kmph

Starc came is as ~140 kmph bowler but with time he kept increasing his pace and in last 3/4 years he has slowed down as the 2 other Aus pacers for the same reason   longevity and workload. They have been playing all big games/tournaments in all 3 format.

If any1 has such a long career they wont remain 145+ kmph bowler for ever. Only Akthar and Lee were able to do so. Now what wood is doing is something special coming after injury being 30+ yo and getting quicker every season is never seem before

Why you are stuck with last series only ?

Bumrah has bowled upto 147-148kph historically...do you agree ? So he is able to crank up the pace is he wants to. Bumrah is a 137-144k bowler in general. Here he gets his 5th wicket with a 146k delivery.

https://youtu.be/svJkadBf8Z4?si=NAEqvxrJuzl04xte

Shami wasn't a speed demon..but he was someone who can always hit those speeds when rhythm. Shami hitting 146-147 is not a surprise when his recorded speed in above 150k. Though he is mostly a 133-140kph bowler now...he was easily a 135-142k bowler from 2016-2020/21.  You can see him bowling so many 138-142 deliveries in the below video...

When u use the word consistently, the meaning can easily change and go in different direction. Except Mark Wood & Nortje I don't think anyone can hit 145k consistently..not even Ferguson.

In his quickest years of mid 2017 to end 2019, till his first back injury, Bumrah bowled some 140 k to 151 k spells. Quickest of 153 k.

After that, he has basically been a 135 k to 147 k pacer. Odd balls at 148 /149 k in a year.

But he has always retained the ability to bowl some 142 k to 147 k spells when the match situation so demands. Like the last 4 matches of the 2023 ODI WC. Or some important test matches. Did it in the US leg of the 2024 WC too when the pitches needed pace.

Shami has always been a 135 k to 146 k pacer except the last 2 years. Bowled 140 k to 146 k spells whenever the match situation so demanded.

And we saw a old Shami bowl 135 k to 143 k consistently in the 2023 WC, fastest of 145 k.

More importantly, both these pacers can sustain pace throughout the day in test matches while being accurate and moving the ball and they hit the bat high and hard.

The newer pacers we have tried don't have most or any of these abilities.

New pacer lack all the attribute to be a good fast bower - Pace , zip , movement , bounce, accuracy . Not sure how they are selected when they do not posses even a single quality. Not a single test quality pacer

I think amongst new pacers Akashdeep & Harshit both have above quality.

Remember even Shami wasn't as quick when he debuted...his fastest used to be around 140 and used to run out of gas many times and trundle. In Australia tour of 2014 he wasn't able to maintain his fitness and was bowling even 128-129.

It's from 2016 onwards, we saw a new and rejuvenated Shami. Running all day and hitting 135-142.

Kuldeep Sen too has ability to bowl long spells without slowing down at a decent accuracy. But not sure how much he is in the reckoning. Also, hit fitness is a mystery now post that back injury in 2022...which started as a back spasm.

Shami was bowling quite sharp during WC 2015

Infact he picked up pace since then, got injured during that WC and came back without loosing pace in 2016

Shami's problem was his running strides which led to loss of pace. He had too long strides which he worked on 2016 and became consistent with his pace.

~150 kmph in these condition on 5th day is v.good. If remains injury free then he can be good add-on to the team.

Harshit hasn't debuted for India yet. So I wasn't talking about him.

He has pace, zip, height, bounce, movement and ability to think. Decent accuracy too. Could sustain pace last time he played FC in 2022.

Akashdeep had played just 1 test. Let's see whether he gets more chances or it is Arshdeep and Mukesh in tests too.

Shami hit 146 k, 145 k in his debut test series in 2013 against the WI. Was sharp in SA too.

Was very quick in the 2015 WC again.

As you pointed out, he was medium pace and unfit in many spells in 2014.

Sen played just 1 ODI for India 20 months back. So I was not talking about him.

The newer pacers, getting consistent chances ... Mukesh, Avesh, Arshdeep, Unadkat earlier and now Khaleel ... none of them can sustain even the medium pace they have and they become military medium after 8 to 10 overs.

Even Siraj is 130 - 135 in so many spells even though he can cross 145 k.

What are the speeds of  Pakistan bowlers in the test versus bangladesh

General observation ::

Pak bowlers do not carry same speeds in test and that was when they were on peak.

Right now even their t20 speeds are mostly ~140 kmph, now test would be around 130 Kmph.

Shaheen and Naseem have been criticized for drop in pace post the injury. Post Injury Shaheen has not been able to land the yorkers and have been bowling fulltosses.

This could be because of lack of pace and ball in not having enough air speed (revolutions) to dip sharply at the batter or he is not using his back that much.

Naseem is bit faster on average but he too hardly hits his pre-injury speeds and he is most consistent hitting good length amongst Pak bowlers.

The likes of Mukesh, Avesh, Arshdeep and others are pedestrian by default. Infact you might remember even Arshdeep was in general a 130kph bowler.

It's just in T20's he is able to touch 140 at times when he bowls with effort. But sustaining that isn't possible for him.

Bhuvi, Mukesh, Harshal all are fabricated from same piece of cloth, started as 130kph and effort ball hits 140 (plus minus 3/4 kph).

Khaleel & Avesh does have more pace that the above mentioned bowlers, but they're from Munaf Patel's school of fast bowling. They can be a 135-138 averaging bowlers but it requires hard work, which they don't want to do. They seems content with what they have achieved so far.

Siraj is like Ishant. When in rhythm he can clock high speeds, else not. Though Ishant was a bit quicker than Siraj on an average.

Simarjeet bolwed 153 kmph , could be technical glitch

East Delhi Riders vs North Delhi Strikers , over 4.1

Please layout speeds for his all deliveries in that over, would be easy to speculate
