Arora -> Tall, but strictly a new ball bowler.

Kamboj -> Similar to Mohit Sharma. Can be a one change bowler for shorter formats.

Dayal -> More suited for white ball, can be a challenge for Arshdeep.

Saini, Mukesh -> Old, rejected.

Khaleel -> Skilled but lazy fellow. Don't have motivation.

Rasikh -> A variation/gimmicky bowler, may work initially but then will be exposed.

Aaqib -> Mukesh Kumar lite.

Yes not a single high potential bowler be it test or T20s, would have been ok even if they had some batting ability for T20.

Unable to understand how these low potential fast bowlers are getting ahead.

Not a single bowler is 140+ kmph even in T20s. All sub 140 kmph and few even lower

Good article.

Some quality points are discussed about Siraj. He has lost the pace and earlier he used to bowl 135-145 kph..now he is more in 128-138kph territory.

The slower a bowler becomes, the more ineffective his reverse will be. That's why most trundlers who are serviceable in the shorter formats can't survive in the longest format. As reverse swing plays a key role in the Indian conditions for a fast bowler. Siraj is a borderline trundler now.

Spot on. Even in places like Australia you need the whole attack to bowl a high percentage of deliveries above 135 kph to be successful in Tests.

In LOI cricket you can get away with trundlers somewhat

I think it may be deeper than that. I think Shankar Basu was a key figure in helping bowlers keep themselves well conditioned and fit

Not sure the new S&C coach is as good.

Even at IPL level, bowlers were bowling much quicker around 2018

Do not think this is s&c issue, looks like more about tm and their preferences.

Take all the bowlers that have been inducted since 2021 all have been ~140 kmph that too at t20s. and those ~140 kmph bowlers become ~135 kmph bowlers in odis and goes further down in test.

The good thing with Bhurmah and shami is they are/were bowling at same speeds as they bowl in t20s. Akash deep also look to do the same in whatever test he has played.

Other than bhurmah who is kind of exception all ind fast bolwers are bowling sub 140 kmph in t20s.

Think rohit has same kind of thinking as  dhoni when come to fast bowling.

Sakib was recorded when he played for Bihar at 17-18 was clocking 142-143. But he is short only 5'9. Avinash hasn't played any domestic cricket. He is even shorter around 5'7.

Thats the irony those who are tall are not fast enough and those who are fast are not tall enough.

Ashok Sharma too is quick...last I saw he easily looked 137-147 to me...his deliveries has that "kick" which Mayank had pre-injury.

Not sure bout his height though, people are calling him between 5.8 to 5.11. 5.11 is decent..a tad below 6.

Do not think he will ever get a chance in raj team, think there are multiple high pace bowlers there who are nt even getting chance.

Nagarkoti, Ashok, there was a LAF Himat(nt 100% sure of the name), they let go of Bisnoi for R.chahar

Sharma was top wkt taker in their domestic t20 league was getting wkts just because of extra pace, too hard to handle for the league batters

I read BCCI is looking out for a pace allrounder - the two options they are interested in are Shardul and Nitish.

I hope sense prevails and we select Shardul, Nitish isn’t good enough to bowl in Australia yet.

Exclude Bumrah, Shami.  I am looking only for bowlers who could be selected for India A who could be groomed next in line. Ashok Sharma haven't been clocked. So can't name him. He has still not made debut for Rajasthan. Only playing u23.

Nitish bowling is very ordinary,he was not able to take wickets in his last Ranji match also

Raj Bawa is a good option as well. Its important than selectors keep an open eye and don't just stop looking once they narrow down someone.

Nitish is a batter first, bowling is his secondary skill.

Though he is just 21, and his basics are right...he can become a reliable 5th/6th bowler once he bowls more.

Ashok Sharma is with KKR right ?

These days IPL is first level for any fast bowler to make his entry to the state side.

Even Dale Steyn didn't bowl all 20 overs over 140. So that's not the necessity.  Important is to having the ability to do that and high pace ceiling.
