Wayward pace won't work in the long run and neither would cutting pace for accuracy. Tight lines are very important but if it is achieved by bowling much slower then it is a bad habit being developed. Point is, it's a line issue with Prasidh , specifically in this format. For Indian bowlers with 25 + wickets, only Shami has a better strike rate. But only Shardul and Sreesanth have worse economy rates. Suhaan 1

And my point is .... either cutting down on pace to bowl better lines, like Harshit OR spraying the ball while maintaining pace, like Prasidh ... should not be acceptable at international level. They should learn from Bumrah snd Shami. Both have maintained pace ( just 1 kph / 2 kph loss every 5 years ) for 10 and 11 years while improving accuracy. Harshit and Prasidh are not able to achieve this, even early in their careers, because their bodies are not used to playing FCC regularly. So they have to compromise on this or that. While Bumrah played 25 and Shami 27 FC matches before test debut. Gurnoor Brar has now played 18 FC games, and after a few more, he maybe able to bowl with accuracy at pace. What he lacks is List A and T20 games under his belt. Must play more. Ashok Sharma and Eden Apple Tom are playing FC games this season and Ashok is playing T20s too. He maybe able to achieve both if he is able to maintain fitness. Eden is not playing white ball cricket. If a fast bowler's body is not used to bowling fast throughout the day, he will end up compromising on either pace or accuracy. tapandrun, Suhaan and Vk1 1 2

Took him nearly a decade. I did not say anything about cutting down pace. There is no evidence that any of our bowlers are consciously cutting down on pace, anyway.

Looks lively paced, tall and has a good seam position. Good yorker too. Lower order hitter. Where was he hiding all this time ? He is been around for some time, think he was with Rcb for a season or two. He may be sub 140 kmph in t20 but is tall. Think he had knee surgery or something As mentioned only this season looks like there is a directives from the top to play tall fast bowlers. Hence you are seeing alot of bowlers who were in clod-storages frm various teams are making a comeback this season and getting games. Edited December 7, 2025 by tapandrun Suhaan and express bowling 2

He was accurate...I think only in his earlier career (< 1 year) he was "inaccurate"...but he improved in ODIs quickly. What he didnt had was stamina...and the reason is cause he used to run with long strides, which used to had an impact on his fitness. Post 2015 ODI WC injury, he transformed his runup and started running with smaller strides...and maintained his stamina. From 2016-2021 he had pace, stamina and fitness to bowl long spells....he is losing some fitness due to growing age...and that might lead to some spraying here and there. express bowling and tapandrun 2

It's difficult to say that about Shami because he barely played ODIs in between World Cups after 2015. The line accuracy with which he bowled in 2023 IPL and in 2023 World Cup was absolutely elite. I don't think he was that accurate at any time previously in his career.

Thats majority of the work is done right there. Also the ceiling needs to be higher. You encourage high potential bowlers, most results follow. Mindset needs to be changed. There was a transient short term phase when that exactly was happening and we saw the results. Also, the problem is that the talent in the existing bowlers is lacking - be it temperament or just raw talent. Bumrah is fine. Siraj is highly up n down. The other bowlers are either not given chances or the wrong ones to begin with. Think the root cause of the issue started with like-for-like replacements, it was always a down grade process to pick a selection. Can nt have adidas you get abibas kind of thing. If bhuvi is not playing get in D.chahar which is a doen grade, same went for batting too...like for like is good for 1-2 match incase you have injury in big tournament and you donot want to disturb the balance of the team for 1 change , but Ind created a bench of downgrades who would never graduate to next level because there was no plan for them to grautuade , Ind's batting and bowling is suffering because of that reason only. No high potential batter or bowlers were ever selected and they kept on winning meaningless bileteral series. Other low potential bowlers were also selected just for garbage games or games where these big stars wanted to rest. There was no plan to induct high potential and proper Ind full strength material, it just that now that these super stars have retired and ppl are seeing the out come of the downgrade process. Ind does not have a bowler after Siraj and Bhumrah, does not seem to have a test batter. Ind is opening with a batter whose Avg is 36, middle order is comprising of batters who are not even top batters for their domestic side --- Sai/reddy/sundar. In bowling those like for like has vanished like they never existed, The only equal like for like player who is able to crack into full strength Ind side is axar. and even till last t20i wc he was not able to make it Ind full strength side. All of Ashok's 4 wickets were off quick stump directed balls this time. If he can combine quick stump directed balls with nasty bumpers, he will be a handful. Want to see how his channel balls are. Pointed this about him, he is v.similar to what Mayank bowled in those 2 IPL games. well directed bouncers and yorker. Does not bowl many bad balls atleast for the Smat level batters. Intnl. batters are different. They only get bothered by pace if some1 bowls at mayank's pace (mid 150s) with high accuracy. Think Ashok is fastest bowler in domestic right now. Umran is just returning back and Tyagi doing Tyagi things and Mayank being injured. tweaker and express bowling 2

Can not watch Ind domestic cricket without keeping the matches on mute, there are these 5-8 same commentators who do all the matches be in Domestic t20 leagues or bcci events like ranji,vh,smat. As soon as some bowlers tried to put in some effort they go after him, any faster bowler is bashed . even if they induced an endge/false shot they are discouraged. This is what you hear during commentoty no sure what they be telling thse faster bowlers in person (.... try spin....). Thats the reason you can not pick a stop gap bowler from Ind domestic , like these seasoned bowled do not have pace , those who had pace already got bashed and discarded due to this nature of commentators.
