@express bowling @Suhaan Allan Donald the chief architect of BD pace revolution

Why doesn't BCCI hires folks like him and jhantu Kanglu boards grab big names

I always maintained he is the man behind BDs pace revolution and the rewards which they are reaping nowadays were long back sown by Donald

While we were busy feeding useless bisons like mhaaambrey

We should have absolutely grabbed Donald,Steyn,Lee who are mad about fast bowling and handover the reigns to them,do what you want, they will oblige you with crop of world beating pacers

Which we deliberately don't want,as someone rightfully said they don't want limelight shifted from batsmen to pacers

BD have now shifted from traditional slow low surfaces to seam and bouncy ones, great turnaround

At the time BD was using the services of Allan Donald, we brought in legend Paras Mhambrey as bowling coach who, along with Dravid and Rohit, nurtured Mukesh, Unadkat, Avesh etc.as the " new pace sensations ".

All the good work done by Arun, Kohli and Shastri ... in developing a vicious pace attack of Bumrah, Shami, Ishant 2.0, Umesh 2.0, Bhuvi and Hardik ... was pushed back a few years.

Now GG, Morkel, Gill have brought in Harshit, Prasidh and now Brar. All tall and quick. But they need to bring in Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav and eventually Onkar Tarmale. Tyagi needs to play FCC.

GG and Morkel have been an upgrade over Rahul and Mhambrey for sure.  We were going nowhere with them.

Even Lejhund Undercutter made a test comeback in WI under those guys.  Dreadful days.  Mukesh became fastest in the world to play all three formats.  Avesh was permanent.

Ashok Mayank Tyagi are all high potential quicks.  None of them being part of India A set up is honestly disappointing.  I don't think we will see these guys in even second string sides for a while.

I don’t understand how no one is calling out the stupidity of completely ignoring Ashok - in the media and ex cricketer circle I mean.

Started with that clown Nehra but non selection anywhere is demoralizing even for me - I can only imagine how he must be feeling.

India just doesn’t deserve quick bowlers. They don’t have the attitude nor the patience and positivity that every other country has when it comes to pace. Some weird complex these people have got.

Donald was a great bowler and may a good coach too, but when he the coach think Bd was still preparing spinning tracks, and he has openly criticized that too.

The credit must go to bd as system as set-up not the coaches, bd cricketing system always prioritize pace over trundlers and never got into line and length obsession.

Since murtaza all the bd pacers have been tall and fast , only hasan will be 135ish kmph bowler rest all were 140+ kmph.

Think at one time bd board wanted each bpl team to have a 140+kmph and a leg-spinner in the playing 11 of each side.

Bd have been testing these kind of greenish pitches for some time, they used greenish pitch vs sl as well, so they use greenish wkts where they think their pacers can do the job for them but vs team who are better vs pace they offer spinning tracks.

In Ind selectors/system are obsessed with line and length , pace hardly matters to them , no coach can make a sub 135 kmph bowler who is not that tall a world class pacer unless they are playing on highly assistive pitches

BCCI is very conservative to not brush the egos of superstars. They dont want a parallel power center conflict between coaches and players.

Big coaches who has a long and successful career and are vocal arent encouraged as it will create the same friction which we saw in case of Kumble vs Virat.

Dravid wasnt much vocal, Shastri was a yes man, hence we got coaches who weren't powerful enough to hog the media. This allowed the superstars to continue for years without failure, as the public comes on the ground to see the heroes, not the team.

GG's inclusion is rrom where the change has happened. Morkel is trying to promote fast bowlers. But we need to build pitches as well to support them domestically, else, on the social media fans will start to butcher the coach and selectors.

Already there js enough campaign for the inclusion of Shri Bhuvaneshwar Kumar ji in T20s and Aaqib Nabi in Tests.

All 3 of them must play FC, they have to realize that playing FC will help them bowl many overs which will build the muscle memory, specially for Tyagi as he often struggles with his lengths by 3rd of 4th over.

Ashok & Mayank have better control, but on flat pitches of IPL even a mishit travels. So their confidence might have taken a dent, a positive FC season will help in regaining that.

Saw the wicket of Sediq by Prasidh, on facebook videos. Doubt that the ball was above 145k's, or even 140k's. The wickets went tumbling and flying really far. Made me wonder if there is a sweet spot on the wooden wickets, which when hit at the right spot, either breaks them, or makes them go flying far, no matter the speed.

I have seen this happening with bowlers bowling in 130's or early 140's and the wicket flying far back, however seen balls above 145, and nothing happening to the wicket.

What exactly is Anshul Kamboj doing in India A team? What are the selectors on? Why should a bowler, who has no pace, has been proven to be ineffective in International arena, and is not on the younger side, be selected and played? What kind of signal does this give to someone like Ashok?

If at all, the Bihari bowler should have been given a chance!

Absolute madness is happening in Indian cricket.

Wooden wkts are bit lighter, do not have all those wiring connection so easy to up-root them, if hit flush at the top can make them tumble in circular motion.

Hitting in the middle or at the root can not make up-root. hitting at near top of the wkts creates larger angular momentum with no other balancing force.

will see the tumbling of wkts in domestic more as they use wooden wkts with no camera or mic connections

With zinga or acrylic (led) made wkts the material itself can take some part of the impact and the its bit heavy , connected with wires. and has some internal wire connections under the pitch/ground

In regards to Ind vs Afgn game it had Zinga wkts if not wrong

We nurtured Prasidh too, not the TM problem that he turned out to be average at best.

Similarly Avesh turned out to be ****, Mohsin Khan cannot last four overs same for Kartik Tyagi.

The fact is that our bowling stocks has been comically bad since Siraj came through.

This is not a BCCI issue, this is a player ability issue. We only have half a dozen respectable bowlers in our history, the last decade raised our expectations but now we are back to normalcy.

The five selectors should watch domestic matches in their respective zones.

The team management have tendency to back a bowler who are almost of same type ie medium pacers.

They have backed Mukesh,Avesh, and now Kamboj is the blue eyed boy.

Selection committee is so averse to risk that they don't select Tyagi, Mayank, Ashok, Mohsin even for A team against Afghanistan A.

The template of bowler who can bat have tilted the selection in favour of Arshad instead of Mohsin, Kamboj instead of Ashok.

The selectors, coaches, team management are extremely happy with Bumrah, Siraj, Harsit, Prasidh and backup of Kamboj, Akashdeep, Mukesh, Avesh, that they don't want to strengthen bench strength.

Next season Ashok, Mayank, Karthik will be lost in wilderness and if there is major injury to Bumrah Siraj Prasidh,we may field a attack of Kamboj, Mukesh, Avesh in future.

Good pacers are always there.

Kuldeep Sen performed superlatively in VHT in 2022 or 23 while bowling 145 k+, but was forgotten after one small injury.

Now Ashok Sharma is getting ignored. He has performed in all 3 formats in domestic cricket, and especially in white ball cricket while bowling 150 k.

Another issue is trying to introduce 140 k+ pacers in every state team ( which form the supply line for Team India ). And that is not happening.

We choose chaantus like Avesh, Mukesh, Zaleel, Kambojh, Unadkut...which of them are actually a solid performer ?

Tyagi lasted 14 games this season, previously he bowled FC overs as well, so rhythm is there, fitness is coming back, this season will give us more insight.

Ashok too debuted last season and played FC, VHT, SMAT and even for India 'A'. Hardly an injury prone bowler, only Mayank is injury prone.

Harshit & Akashdeep are good/decent, but both are recovering. Prasidh is suitable under certain pitches.

Don't think the problem was with Dravid and Mhambrey.

It was with the way our bowlers were being developed in the NCA etc.

There was a period when all the young pacers with potential were breaking down and had inefficient runups/actions (circa 2022)

So when Shami and Bumrah were being rested, we ended up with rank trundlers
