After a long, he got seam position a bit better, not as good as BK or Shami but still good and at his height, he got some good bounce even on docile track and movement off the seam.

Even once in a blue moon performance look bigger than actually it is because of the mediocre standard he has set for himself. His seam position is well below the ideal. Infact at the start of the innings he had scrambled seam. He looks good when his stock delivery of in swing to right handers gets going. Otherwise I don't see much change. May be the slow bounce helped him . I don't know have to wait and see.

There are several bowlers who bowl with wobbly seam like Philander and Asif but they still hit the seam. They themselves do not know which way the ball will move, but what they do is bowl on right line which means they are always in business whichever way the ball moves. After lunch, he was hitting the seam though it was wobbly.

For him, it is all about rhythm and seam position. Even if he bowls if he does not get seam right, he wont get much movement. That is why hitting seam is so important.

I have been following him from the days when he picked fifer against Pakistan . His inswingers were really uncomfortable for some batsmen. He owned Badrinath in domstic league with inswingers. Once in a while he gets it going. On a track with uneven bounce that will come into play. Infact even in the commentary when India batted, they were talking about how Ishant will be effective if he bowls straight. Mercifully he bowled his stock ball well. But we have to keep fingers crossed when he will go back to his short and wide stuffs.

Holding should conduct two hours bowling lesson for Ishant sharma after end of each day :--D

Trundler27 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 His first few wickets again looked 'lucky'... but my goodness... once he started hurling those bouncers with confidence, i hate to say, but it looked like Mitchell Johnson bowling out there towards the end. All of our great overseas wins have been punctuated by an 'out of the blue' great bowling performance but this game was pretty special since we had a genuine all time great all round performance by BK supported by this brilliant spell from lambu. I hope he is on to something finally after playing over 50 test matches.
