express bowling Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 ICC's handling of this incident is absolutely bizarre. The victim is being punished and that too before the originally accused. I am happy to see Dhoni taking a strong stance on this issue and would really like to see him use his clout now. Anderson and his supporters need to be taught a lesson. Body contact in cricket is simply not acceptable.
cowboysfan Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 isn't this a five test match series? we now come to know that there was physical contact initiated by Anderson,BCCI will boycott this series if there is no match ban.
maniac Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 What did he do to Sreesanth? maniac...to be fair to dhoni....it was an uphill task supporting Sreeshant and his antics. He would rile his own team mates.Dhoni had once mentioned the problem about Sreesanth ...that he was supposed to rile the opposition ' date='not his team mates. Now of course we know how he turned out.[/quote'] Well this is not the right time to bring up the past and criticize dhoni as he is doing the right thing here for sure but yeah sree turned out to be a moron but that doesn't give dhoni a right to humiliate him in public during ind-sa test series right in the middle of it as well. There are other examples of him mishandling his teammates but not the right time to discuss it,hopefully he has become more proactive and will stand up for his team more going forward.

I actually don't remember the incident well.I think some bottles were thrown at Sree fromthe crowd and Dhoni asked him to move on and focus on match, right?
wanted_desi Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Jadeja couldn't even take more wickets than Moreen Ali. Yeh, he smashed a 50. But if he can't take wickets he should be shown door.

SLICKR392 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 isn't this a five test match series? Anderson might miss out the last anyway. Has been over bowling lately.
daryl1985 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 What did he do to Sreesanth? As i recall in the SA-IND series in 2010-2011, Sree and Graeme Smith began to have words and Smith took objection to what Sree said. He had a word with Dhoni and it seemed like Dhoni sided with Smith. In the same series (may have been the same test) Sree was fielding near the boundary and it appeared as if he had some plastic bottles thrown at him by South African fans. He made a complaint and Dhoni appeared to laugh it off and did not back his man . This was in the 3rd test, India were on top and Kallis was playing a heroic knock in South Africa's 2nd innings to deny India a good chance of victory. At the time Sree was the only guy causing Kallis any problems (had LBW appeals correctly turned down). After Dhoni failed to back Sree and almost mocked him for complaining about the plastic bottles he lost any threat he had and his head seemed to drop. With that went India's chance of the win, amazing knock from Kallis tbf who batted through a painful side injury. My version could be a pile of bullshit though, but this is how i remember it.
Yoda-esque Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hmm, so this seems to be turning into an anti Dhoni thread as well
Iconoclast Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I dont understand how Jadeja got sledged and provoked and then ended up getting fined. It sounds like a biased decision. Yeah the decision is biased because Indians are always innocent and never do anything wrong ... Or perhaps you should consider that Mahi skipped some pertinent details whilst defending his mate ?
CG Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 This goes way back to odi series vs england in india .it all started with swann sledging dhoni .DHoni who usually wears a nice mask of being composed lost it.In that match i remember Jadeja and P.k were abusing english players were going after handshakes to dressing room .I think this instance its the right thing to defend jaddu.
jf1gp_1 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Was wondering how Virat would have handled this if he were the captain
maniac Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hmm' date=' so this seems to be turning into an anti Dhoni thread as well[/quote'] I am with Dhoni on this :nice: no matter what the reasons are for DHoni's proactiveness :winky:

Thanks.I read about it now and it seems Sree overboard with sledging Smith(which is very likely).Dhoni asked him to not cross the line.Just because hes teammate, you can't back your player in wrong things imo. As for other issue,Dhoni may have wanted Sree to focus on bowling instead of that. Its easy to blame him in hindsight.but same thing might have worked if Sree channelled his anger in bowling. We all know Sree was a lose cannon. Its more important to control him than let him do what he wants as things might get ugly. I doubt Dhoni had any prejudices there.

Yeah, Jadeja got in Bell's face after the handshakes. England were running their mouths a lot in thst series, notably Finn and Swann.
adi B Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Ridiculous decision to fine jadeja, boon said he didn't find anything that looked serious level 2 charge but on what basis did he apply level 1 on him? Hopefully Anderson gets a good 3 match ban, thatll be apt
