Top England cricketer Moeen Ali faces probe after wearing 'Free Palestine' and 'Save Gaza' wristbands 'that may breach dress code' as he bats against India

'Approval shall not be granted for messages which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes.’ The English Cricket Board (ECB) said that Ali did not ask for permission to wear the wristbands. Ali, a practising Muslim of Pakistani descent, wore the black-and-white bands on his wrist as he batted for England at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. He was pictured this week raising funds for the victims of the conflict in Gaza with the Ummah Welfare Trust in Small Heath, Birmingham.

The body’s code reads: ‘Players and team officials shall not be permitted to wear, display or otherwise convey messages through arm bands or other items affixed to clothing or equipment unless approved in advance by the player or team official’s Board.

They are wristbands not attached to clothing or equipment. Besides in the article above ECB said it had no problem with it.

This is because he keeps his religion and faith away from cricket pitch. What Moen did today was unnecessary as there was no point of mixing politics with cricket. This is the difference between Amla and other bearded cricketers (MoYo, Moeen Ali etc.). Maybe Amla's Indian blood has something to do with him being the sensible one.
