No Philander there. And guess' date=' what, Sanga faced all three of them and made a century. Addition of Philander takes that attack a level above what SRT played, BTW these two played a series against Anderson, Broad, Tremlett and Finn, and Sanga had bit of difficult condition to bat comparatively. Sanga averaged something like 36 and SRT like 39. Against similar attack, I would pick these two to score even stevens. But SRT has the upper hand against top class spin attacks.[/quote'] Sanga averaged 30 in that series don't pick numbers from your backside. Asad Shafique made a ton vs Philander and he didn't have to depend on a dropped catch on 3 made by Boucher like Sanga did. Kohli nearly made 2 in a single game; so by that logic Kohli>Sanga. Sangakkara has played 14 series outside the subcontinent and averaged 50+ in 3 of them (one of which was a single match). Rahane was level with Sanga before SL vs England this year :hysterical::haha:

Sanga has made a career out of beating Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Pakistan everywhere and other attacks in SSC. 19/37 hundreds have come against these 3 teams. Most overrated player of the generation.

But Tendulkar didn't and only did marginally better than Sanga against same atatcks man to man. And How much Kohli average against same attack that Sanga averaged 75+?:finger: SRT and Sanga played away in SC under different eras and against different attacks. There's no point in comparing them. You can compare Lara, SRT and Ponting, because theor carrers overlap a lot, but not Sanga and SRT. Sanga and Kallis would be a good comparison to make.

Ehh, the attack they faced in the 90s was much more potent than today's. Steyn is the only exception And in one breath you talk of different era and in another you compare an aging Sachin wi th a peak Sanga? Yeah right :cantstop:

LMAO. Donald and Devilliers were the only notable bowlers. One ATG other nearly ATG. Recent one has one ATG bowler plus two almost ATG ones. Let's face it. In his first series in SAF (1992) , averaged 34, when he faced the full might of Donald and Brett Schultz, easily the best test attack SAF had before Steyn, Morkel and Philander. Sanga against the best SAF attack averaged 30. Then came 1996 tour, against a potent attack of Donald and Devilliers, SRT averaged 40. (Note, great bowlers -2). Then came tours of 2000s. Against a grand arrack of Pollock, Hayward, and Ntinit (two of them extremely raw), SRT averages 64, one test on a flattest of decks SAF has ever produced. On other hand Sanga, as a wicket keeper bat, two close tours 2001 and 2002, played Donald, Pollock, Ntini and Ngam to average 39.2. In 2006, against a quality attack Steyn, Ntini, Pollock, Morkel and Nel, SRT averages 33. I don't wan't tho think how much he will average against Steyn + Morkel + Philander. SRT had five series in SAF where he averages less than 35 in two od them. Sanga had three series and averged less than 35 in one of them only. Other than for that massive flat track series, SRTs very best against SAF came late in his career, past age of 37. Let Sanga have another series in SAF, I am pretty sure he is going to smash them if he continues with this form. Additionally, SRT had been poor against SAF even on home tracks. India and SL have pretty similar tracks. Batting averages since 1990 had been similar (33.1 in India, 31.7 in SL), but their home records have been massively different (36.3 - SRT vs 60.1 - Sanga). Which ever way people look to twist the numbers, Sanga has done almost as well as SRT in SAF, may be tad lesser. But under home conditions SRT had been poor against SAF. If I want some one to bat for me against SAF, I'd pick Sanga every time,

Lol what a stupid argument given by thongale.sachin faced much superior bowling attacks in the 90s,scored 150+ twice in saf against pollock, ntini,Donald etc ,two hundreds in 2011 against.Steyn, morkel and co.scored runs against windies pace attack of Ambrose,Walsh, bishop etc,100s in aus against warne,McGrath, gillespie, lee etc ,ton against Pakistan in most difficult conditions against Wasim, akhtar, saqlain . Sachin has faced far more superior and potent bowlers on difficult batting pitch and succeeded with flying colours than sanga who hasn't even faced ATG bowlers

WTF when sachin scored runs against quality attack pitch becomes flat great logic.

Nope. The SA attack in the mid-90s with Donald and Pollock was way better.
Then came 1996 tour, against a potent attack of Donald and Devilliers, SRT averaged 40. (Note, great bowlers -2).
Wrong! De Villiers didn't play in that series. It was Donald and Pollock pretty much in their prime and SRT averaged 40. Unlike Sanga on any of his 3 tours in SA! :hysterical:

Love how you've sneaked in Donald here when he only played a single Test in these 2 series! :cantstop: Not to mention that we're talking about a somewhat geriatric Donald who barely bowled in the 2nd innings of the only Test he played. No comparison to the fiery Donald SRT faced in 92 and 96.
In 2006, against a quality attack Steyn, Ntini, Pollock, Morkel and Nel, SRT averages 33. I don't wan't tho think how much he will average against Steyn + Morkel + Philander.
Considering the fact that he could average 40 against Donald-Pollock at their peak, he'd do just fine. Sanga barely averaged 30 against these guys though, he'd be toast against Donald-Pollock in the mid-90s!

SRT had 5 series in SA and averaged 40+ in 3 of them (in two of these series he averaged 60+). Sanga has had 3 series and hasn't averaged 40 in any of them :hysterical:. Even though he was up against moderate attacks on his first 2 tours. Heck, even the likes of Kohli and Rahane managed to average 60+ against the much vaunted trio of Steyn/Philander/Morkel on their first tour. :--D Wake me up when Sanga averages 40+ against SA in their backyard against a half decent attack!
Additionally, SRT had been poor against SAF even on home tracks. India and SL have pretty similar tracks. Hehe, so SRT who has averaged about 10 runs more (46 for SRT and 35 for Sanga) while playing against better attacks (up against a peak Donald in 92, 96 and peak Steyn in '11) is only a tad better than Sanga who barely averages 35 despite playing half of his tests against a team that didn't feature either Donald or Steyn! :cantstop: Cool story bro!

Sanga may overtake Tendu, but he will never be Tendu. Nothing Sanga has done in his career comes any where close to Tendu of the 90s when he averaged 58 in a very strong bowling era. (Only two or three batsmen averaged 50 during the 90s unlike Sanga's period which has quite a high number of batsmen with 50+ avg)

A joke of a debate when you compare their overall record- home/overseas. BS that Sanga hadn't got as many chances as Sachin, because when he did, he should have performed.

Can't believe if there can be a serious discussion on topic of Sachin vs Sanga.
Dont take thongale seriously he would post some totally unheard of bias stuffs as facts and if you ask him why/how is that a fact and where in the world he is getting those news from then he would give you a link some unknown blog :hysterical::hysterical: Even in this thread some posters exposed him of manipulating numbers :phehehe: He is nothing more than a comic relief :nice:

With this run he can overtake Sachin in 2 years time but doubt he is that concerned about milestones. With this innings he is the 3rd best test batsman from SC after Gavaskar and Sachin.
