I will personally give the captaincy to Che. I know he has struggled overseas. But atleast at home he has his **** sorted. For me there is a basic question mark if Ashwin makes the team overseas.

It is better to give captaincy to a long term prospect when in bad form. May be it could turn his career around. REmember Dhoni's batting style before his captaincy in one dayers. He used to be more enterprising and dynamic. He became a percentage cricketer after captaincy. It could provide the spark like it provided to Matthews who became better after captaincy. This idea of giving captaincy to only those who are in absolutely brilliant batting form is over-rated. His form won't make him a better captain.

Kohli failed in one series.. Prior to that he he had two good test series. He is an established player along with Pujara. If a captain fails series after series he needs to face repercussions. This is 5 series in a row and yet he is going to get a free ride because others are not "established" then we are doomed. Same old strategies, same old team selections, same old interviews with only process but no progress is worse than giving captaincy to a relatively new player. Dhoni needs to be kicked out as captain. HE doesn't deserve captaincy . Period.

How is Pujara not an established player? He was our best batsman coming into this series. It's Kohli who hasn't really cemented his place yet, though he deserved this run considering he did well in SA.

Kohli and Pujara are here to stay, they have already proved their worth in South Africa. What they lack is not technique but experience - they will bounce back within a series or two. Nothing wrong in making Kohli captain - whether he is worthy of it can be known only after he is given an opportunity. With Dhoni, India is guaranteed to loose every overseas series for the foreseeable future, so why not give the chance to some one else, inexperienced they may be. No new captain can go below Dhoni's standard over the past three years, which is all about getting whitewashed left and right.

Do we know who are the replacements waiting in the wings for Kohli and Pujara so we can talk about their replacements just after failure in one series? Thats the established class because thays when you get 15-20tests of poor form...2 or 3 more series failure and both their heads are on chopping block...thats a fact. Dhoni's primary job is wicketkeeping & captaincy, although he has delivered sub-par results

Don't you think the eligibility criteria you have set for captaincy are a bit on the harsher side? Let's apply the same to India's greatest captains, at least in numbers - Dhoni and Ganguly. Dhoni played 30 tests before he was made captain. He wasn't much of a wicket keeper when he started out, he improved later on in his career. He came on the scene as a hard hitting batsman but averaged 33. Ganguly played 32 tests and had poor tours of pak, SA and WI - Averaged 34 in pak, 28 in SA and 19 in WI. Had a good home record and had an overall average of 49, just like Pujara now. Graeme Smith was captain after 8 tests, Angelo Matthews is captaining his side after playing 30 odd tests too, and seems to be doing a decent job of it. But I've seen no one who had lost so many tests in a span of 3 years and still continue on as captain. No alternatives? I'd say Kohli/Pujara/Ashwin are far better alternatives than Dhoni. Of course, given that he performed decently, I'd continue with him as the keeper.
