King Tendulkar Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Absolutely. Under Dhoni's captaincy we've won everything there is to win for an ODI side. I haven't been following cricket much. How are we placed for the WC next year? Favourites? Strong contenders? Or have beens? As far as I remember, our test form notwithstanding, we've been consistently strong at ODIs. Well that was quickly and efficiently brushed under the carpet. Sorry the tests have been a disgrace, if the man had any class would have resigned years back O we also did not win any odis in NZ or SA!!!

G_B_ Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I'm guessing you didn't watch the NZ ODIs which is hosting part of WC. Unfortunately no feathers against good ODI teams this is what worries me. The truth is England are **** at playing spin in the ODIs. NZ pitches in the ODIs are drop in and they are on the flatter side favoring seamers.
maniac Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 the fact that no one remembers that series win shows how no one cares about a bilateral ODI series in England....I mean 90 Eng tour is remembered for the Gooch 300,Azhar's braindead captaincy desicions and Kapil's 4 6's to avoid follow on etc. Not taking anything away from the boyz a win is a win but I fear all of a sudden we are equating this to avenging the test series loss,Maybe not the hardcore ICF fans but fans in general.

Most are young players, will need time.

Our batting will turn up more often except on absolute green tops or overcast conditions early morning. It's not like our pacers didn't provide early breakthroughs in NZ but in middle overs spinners did nothing but let the partnership build for slog overs which cost us big time.

Why should we judge our team for the ODI WC next year based on its performance in tests? What ever the management is doing, it seems to be working. If it ain't broke... don't fix it.
